Hi. I'm Ben, Parent & Co-Founder of Train 4 Autism. Every 20 minutes a child is diagnosed with Autism. Train 4 Autsim is a nonprofit founded by parents of autistic children. We are a new 501c3 nonprofit that raises funds for autism treatment, research, and promoting awareness thru involvement in endurance events such as marathons, cycling, and triathlons.

We have partnered with the 2008 Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon. We are offering a free paid entry, fuel belt, training shirt, and pre-race dinner for participants who raise a minimum amt for Train 4 Autism. See www.train4autism.org or latriathlon.com's athletes information page.

If you would like to compete in any endurance event as a part of Train 4 Autism please visit our website for more information. Thank you.

It seems to be a bit confusing on the website over there....

What is the fundraising commitment, or is that what is disclosed in the email that is sent-out when you "register" with the organization?

Sorry if it was confusing on the website. The fundraising commitment is a minimum of $1,000.00 for individual or if competing as a relay $2,000.00.

We are sposoring 4 competitors and we have 3 available spots left. Also, if anyone would like to compete & raise funds thru Train 4 Autism they are surely welcome to do so without any minimum fund raising, they would ofcoarse have to pay their own entry.

Thanks for the interest all who have contacted me!

Ben:

Best of luck. I made a similar effort on the opposite side of the country (Miami) from you. My 16 year-old son has Autism (Aspergers) and so two years ago I had RunForAutism added to the ING Miami Marathon. Two years now and a good success: we raced $25K the first year. Have been thinking of adding a triathlon-based Autism race next.

Good luck.
