I am racing IM FL 70.3 in May and am wondering what peoples experience with speedsuits has been. I'm relatively new to the sport but definitely plan to continue racing. Is this a worth investment? Any feelings on brands?

Speedsuit, as in one piece tri suit? Or are you talking about a swim skin?

Swim skin, the ones you where in non-wetsuit legal swims.

You dont need one. I want all the advantage I can get..... LOL.....

Yes they do help according to some of my friends who have them, they add a negligable amount of buoyancy and make you a lot more slipery in the water. However, for a person like myself who has a permanent anchor on his feet, cutting the anchor chains comes before the suit.

See you @ Florida 70.3. 31 Days, 14 hours.......

Instead of spending $200+ on a speed suit and then another couple of $$$ on a top and bottom or singlet I would recommend getting a Speedo FS II instead. Speedo is king in the water and with the exception of their new LZR line, which has beaten a bunch of records it is best and it is tri specific. In my opinion in a a long distance race like 70.3 + a speed suit can give you an edge. In smaller distance races I think the amount of time you gain in the water you will loose in T1 taking off the suit. See in you at Florida 70.3
