you call that a workout?
I didnt have three flats but in my swim this morning I arrived at the pool to find that the night lifeguard yesterday turned the pool temp to 90!!!! Needless to say, it wasnt the workout I went there wanting to do.
Tri-ac, What is more impressive is that you actually had enough gear on your bike to repair 3 flats. LOL. I usually carry two spare tubes and two CO2 cartridges, my third level of defence is the phone to call the wife, and thank goodness I havent had to do that yet.
flat #1: fresh tube
flat #2: peel and stick patch
flat #3: peel and stick patch
all on the rear tire (and, yes, I checked for latent shards inside and outside the tire before putting it all back together each time)...what a morning!
it was too cold for my CO2 to work so I'm doubly happy I had my pump in my back pocket. I had my phone, but my wife's phone is off at 6am so if I hadn't been able to fix things, I might have been walking home.

Don't be so easy on yourself 'cause this one might be all that you have left
I went to the pool yesterday - and forgot, as I do every Monday - that there's aqua aerobics on Mondays. And the other 3 lanes each had two swimmers. I was in the farthest lane, up against the wall, catching waves as they came in and rebounded again off the wall. Good open water practice, but not what I bargained for. Thought I was going to get seasick but managed 2500 yds anyway.

One word: Tubulars.
I slammed through a pothole at about 25 today, heard a ping sound from both wheels, and normally would have been trying to fix both front and back, but no. Nothing. Just kept on riding without even a wobble in the wheels. My clinchers (from experience) would have been doomed.
tubulars can be filled to a much higher pressure, since there is no risk of blowing the wire bead off of the rim. Clinchers typically inflate to 110-130 psi, but tubulars can go up to 180. The higher pressure decreases rolling resistance and basically rules out pinch flats.

so instead of hill repeats this morning, I did flat repeats
3 %&$(#*(@ FLATS!!!
