The season has begun...
My season starts at the end of April in south New Jersey at Bassman International
My "A" races for the season is New York City and Washington D.C.
My goal is to break 2:20 for an Olympic-That would be an 8 minute improvement over last season.
My training has its ups and downs. Swimming and running getting better. Bike kind of stuck in the middle but that's what happens when you can't ride outside for the better part of 3 months.
First race is 4 weeks, six days...Memphis in May, its also my first OLY and I WILL break 2:15.
My "A" races for the season are Steelhead 70.3 in August, and Ann Arbor, Mi in June. AnnArbor for me is a big team competition against friendly competition from the 3 main teams in our area.
Goals for the year are as previously stated, 2:15 in Memphis, to finish Steelhead in 5 hours, and to go top 20 overall (top 3 AG) in Ann Arbor which would mean a 10 minute drop from last year (based on 07 finishes)
Training has been great. Times and speeds are substantially faster then last year! (Its amazing what a nutritionist for a gf and a great coach can do for yah!!)
IM BACK!!! Well kinda, have to give it six weeks..but its better then six months!
1. It started on Saturday with a 3rd place age group finish in a local sprint duathlon.
2. My "A" races are Boise 70.3 and the Portland Marathon
3. My goals for this year are to go under 5:20 at Boise (a 12 minute improvement) and to do the Portland marathon in under 3:30 hours (1st marathon)
4. Training is going great now, but it was tough to get in a groove this year as finding time to train was difficult. I have converted myself into a morning person and have been training heavily on my lunch break, freeing up some much needed time at home.
Goals are:
Main race is IMWI, along the way goals are:
1. Shake the winter rust out at Kinetic half this weekend.
3. Survive the TTT as a big training weekend.
4. Sub 4:55 at WV half IM.
5. Sub 2:10 at an olympic.
6. Improve on all 3 events from IMoo last year. (Swim sub 1:00 vs 1:03 last year, bike 5:35 from 5:50 last year, run sub 3:40 from 4:30 last year (w/injured achilles)).

2008 Main Races:
VA Beach Shamrock Marathon
Desoto TTT
WV Mountaineer HIM
IM Wisconsin
Hey "TSILCYC!" Whats the answers to your own questions?
IM BACK!!! Well kinda, have to give it six weeks..but its better then six months!
1. My season started with Oceanside.
2. My "A" race is CdA"
3. My goal for the season is to raise $10K for Athletes for a Cure.
4. My training is going very well. I feel strong and I'm looking forward to June.

My season start in may at the Triple-T, maybe with an unofficially almost sprint distance in april at my school for my team.
My A-races are the Triple-T and the Vineman which will be my first Ironman
My goals are pretty much undefined right now. My primary goal is to have FUN!
Then I hope to finish Vineman in less than 12 hours (I might change this time goal), and do as good as possible in the Triple-T
My training is going ok, maybe it could use some more time. But I keep need to take it easy of stupid reasons (rolled ankle in Jan, playing soccer and got some bad hits, taking it easy with my shoulder injury and so on). However, it's all feeling better and better. So now I just need the good weather and the sun, so I can keep training consistently until august :D
you guys are wicked fast compared to me...
1. My season unofficially starts with the Derby festival mini-marathon on April 25th. Officially with a sprint on May 16
2. My A tri is Accenture Chicago Tri in August, with my 2nd peak being Marine Corps Marathon in Oct.
3. My goals are sub 2:40 for olympic (10+min improvement), and sub 3:30 for Marathon (23min improvement)
4. My training is inconsistent, in volume but I'm still making substantial gains and am still training better than ever before because I have no other sports commitments (no more rowing) and I'm following a periodized training plan for once
My blog: http://jsktri.blogspot.com
1. My start and my first ever is in 12 days at the Sacramento Intl Tri.
2. Dont really have an A race but plan on doing 4 races all sprints but different distances and challenges so hard to pick one.
3. My goals are swim at a 1:35/100yrd pace, bike 20mph avg, run 8:15/mile, since all the races are different distances it will be hard to compare one to the others so these are the goals i set.
4. Training strong, felt great in the pool today but the end of school is coming and i have a slacking problem right now. I need to focus on school and training never easy this time of year.
If your going to do something wrong enjoy it.
My Life, My Race, My Blog
1. When does your season start?
- In 3 weeks with a duathlon. My first tri this year is the first week in June.
2. What's your "A" race for the season?
- Caesar Creek sprint Tri in July.
3. What is your goal for the season?
- Complete my first Olympic in August and place in my AG in my July Sprint.
4. How's your training going?
- Running and biking are coming along very nicely. Swimming is almost non-existent at this point.
1. Season started December 30th. Training Day 1 for 70.3 Florida. Unofficially Dec 1st when I got on the scales and saw 263. Actually before that when I lost two notches on the belt, but the scales really opened up my eyes. First race was March 29th, 3.5 minutes faster than my fastest time on a course that was 1 mile longer on the bike. Still with the increased competition in the Big C (Clydesdale) class, I was 9th, not top 5 like I was hoping. Hard to beat the other fat ass's when they run a 23 minute 5k or less and you can only do a 27 minute 5k.
2. A Races. Florida 70.3, with my local nemisis Sprint Tri on August 23rd being my second. I always tank it, so this year I have a plan. Dont Tank It.
3. Goals. To actually finish Florida under 6 hours. I did Eagleman 3 years ago in 7:13 but had 3 flat tires on the ride and spent over 1hr20 minutes waiting for the support crew. (Verified later by my watch after I downloaded it). Later to find I has a burr inside my rim causing me to flat every 12-15 miles. Secondly to get myself down to 230 pounds before Florida. (6'4") 9 pounds to go and to keep it of through the Xmas season. (Santa please eat all the cookies this year.), and finally show my children that you can actually have fun while staying fit without having to win all the time. But winning once would be great.
4. Training is going great. Rode my first 4 hour ride last Friday Averaging 17.9mph over hilly terrain with about 4890ft of climbing. Used bike route toaster to figure out the elevations. Running is still my achillies heel. My longs are just that, long. But hilly. Florida's flat should be a welcome change. Had my first 10 mile TT on the local track. just under 25mph avg. Still the magical mark eludes me. Next time.
I have come to realize that in order to go faster in the water, you actually have to train in the water. The bathtub just doesn't cut it. Seriously, I reworked my swim training this year to be more interval and periodized and it has paid off big time. My Avg 100yd pace over 1 mile is now down to 1:45 from 2:05 or more, and that is taking it easy.
So all in all, I think I am on target to hit Florida with an above average chance of breaking 6 hours. See all the tf's that are going down there.
PS. Claimed three of the two notches back.
had 3 flat tires on the ride
I think you might have learned this lesson but I'll say it just in case. When you pull your tire off, run your hand around the inside of the tire to makes sure there's nothing in there to poke that new tube.

Your bike times are very impressive to me! I did my first 4 hour ride the other day, and only averaged 16.5 mph. Granted it was 5830 ft of climbing, but I weigh significantly less and should therefore have a much easier time on the hills. Looks like I need to keep working on the bike! Anyway, nice job on that...keep working to translate some of that fitness to bring down your run times!
1. When does your season start?
May 18th with the Pinchot Park sprint tri
2. What's your "A" race for the season?
Sprint Nationals at the Lake Cayuga Triathlon
Also focusing on Philly Tri (Oly) as an earlier A race, but Nats is my focus
3. What is your goal for the season?
Complete a half iron (Black Bear), win a race or at least place top 3 overall
Give my best effort in all A races
4. How's your training going?
Pretty well. I've had some knee issues while running and biking that sidetracked me for a while. My swimming is leaps and bounds ahead of where I have been in the past. My bike is going pretty well though I'm not fast yet....I haven't ever been biking this early so its okay. Running is fine, not really my focus in training because it is my natural strength.
1: June 5 - Madison
2: 2 "A" races - Steelhead 70.3 and Chicago
3: 4:05 at Steelhead, 1:52 in Chicago and walk away with a pro card. Then 3:55 or below at 70.3 worlds.
4: Currently at 18,000 yds in the pool, 300-350 mi on the bike and 40-50 mi on the run per week (total training times around 25 hours) so not to bad. Speed sessions start up in 3 weeks.
I think you might have learned this lesson but I'll say it just in case. When you pull your tire off, run your hand around the inside of the tire to makes sure there's nothing in there to poke that new tube.
That I did. My real mistake was that the LBS who just trued up my wheels and replaced the rim tape before the race missed it as well. Needless to say, I learnt all about bike maintenance aand do it myself. I have had no issues with my bike in 3 years. Lesson learned.
St.Anthony's in 2 weeks! UH RAH
Season starts on April 27th at the Bassman International (FIRST RACE EVER!)
My A race is the Metroman Sprint in Asbury Park, NJ
Goals: 1) survive! 2) do at least 1 thing better at each of the races before my A race
Training is going well. I'm not hitting the bike distances for the first race, but I'm spot on for the Sprints (4 of 'em). My training is far more consistent and structured than last year when I was just running and the improvements have been great so far :-)
1) First tri of the season will be the Rockman HIM on June 8'th
2) IMWI is my 'A' race
3) Go sub 12 at IMWI (12:12 last year)
4) Training is on track.

It takes a long time to get good. - Scott Molina
Slow is smooth; smooth is fast. - Rich Strauss
My season starts, APRIL 20th for a Sprint in Lake Anna, Virgina.
My A races for this season are Florida 70.3 in may (First Attempt At This Distance) and the Annapolis, Maryland Olympic Tri in September.
My goals for this season are to break into a 24mph avg in a Sprint. Run a 21 min 5k and place in the top 3 in one of my races.
Training is going fantastic. I have never put this kind of work into my runnning. Hence my times are becoming faster than they ever have. I have got stronger on the bike. My downfall is still the swim though. I can swim long, but no matter what i do my technique has not improved. So my lap times in the pool are staying the same. I need to work on that.
My season starts a week from Friday
A race is Tri for the Cure in Denver (gotta show the old friends that it's ok to be flatlander)
Top goal is to finish the HyVee without sustaining major trauma.
Training is going....
Success comes before work only in the dictionary
1. When does your season start? When daylight saving ended
2. What's your "A" race for the season? Ironman European Championship, July. There is only one.
3. What is your goal for the season? 13hr finish at Ironman
4. How's your training going? 2225+ hours so far. Should hit 350 hours for Ironman with no problem. Need to pick up the swim.
Ironman Germany, July 6, 2008
1. I had my first race a few weeks ago.
2. No idea yet - was going to be collegiate nats or ag oly worlds, but I haven't been training so possibly escape from the gorge in september or some midwest oly in late july
3. Sub 2:20 oly (went 2:24 3x last year)
4. Ummmm.... school is walloping me. I have a whopping 5 hours in the past 3 weeks. I'll start training again May 17.
Season starts Monday in Boston.
My A races are the Steelman OLY in August, the Endurasport HIM in Sept., and the Steamtown Marathon in Oct.
Goals are to go sub 2:20 in the OLY, sub 5:30 in the HIM, and try to break 3 hours in the marathon.
Run training has been going well. Biking and swimming need started for real next week. Looking forward to going from 6 runs a week to 4 and adding the longer bike rides.
1. When does your season start?
May 4th - my first marathon.
2. What's your "A" race for the season?
Last of 6 OLY this year - Sept 7th. First HIM the following week.
3. What is your goal for the season?
I have too many goals. Finish first HIM and Mary. There are times I'd like to get, but I'd purposely try not to think of them or set them as a goal. OLY goals - 30 min water, 20+ mph bike, 45 min run.
4. How's your training going?
Good until last week. I got sick then my wife went out of state, leaving me with our 4 year old. The gym has a daycare, and I have a jogging stroller and trainer, but I can't find the motivation to use any of those.
My A races are the Steelman OLY in August,Goals are to go sub 2:20 in the OLY.
I'll see you there, and most likely we will be very similar in finish times. Maybe we'll have to race it to the line ;-)
(accidental double)

Sounds good. From reading your posts Iwill have my work cut out for me just to make contact after the swim.
Good luck at the Black Bear. I will be there for the Sprint on June 1st.
1) I'll start my season April 26th at the Free State 40 Off-road Ultra.
2) My "A" race is Silverman iron distance tri in Nevada in November.
3) Goal for Silverman is to finish in one piece. After hearing about the course, I'm a little worried.
4) Training is up and down, seems inconsistant at times. I would like to get the 40 miler out of the way so I can turn all of my focus on Silverman!
The race is just the finale to all of your training. Enjoy the celebration.

My season began at Oceanside but for some of you it might not have started yet. So I'm curious...
1. When does your season start?
2. What's your "A" race for the season?
3. What is your goal for the season?
4. How's your training going?
There's some accountability in question #3
