Hardcore Playlists
Live - Pain Lies on the Riverside (dating myself)
Don't be so easy on yourself 'cause this one might be all that you have left
Tool, chevelle, and system of a down are my go tos for intensity.
Killswtich Engage or Five Finger Death Punch
Pain is the sensation of weakness leaving the body!
My mainstays for a little "pump up" music are:
Linkin Park--Given Up, Figure 9, Don't Stay, Faint---just about everything else too
Everclear--Twistinside
Ted Nugent--Stranglehold (this one gets a little long but I love the beginning)
Rage Against the Machine--Wake Up, Freedom, Calm Like a Bomb
Notorious B.I.G. feat. Korn-- Wake Up
Dropkick Murphy's--I'm Shipping Up to Boston (theme from The Departed)
Gonna Sound stupid, but the theme from Pirates of the Carribean--slow at first but I like it
Hope this helps--
John
ummm, dunno if I should admit this but got courage from John...my best running is with Norah Jones. I like having it on shuffle with a big variety. My fave is Eminem, One Shot from 8 Mile...a bit ecletic.
Audioslave and the Chemical Brothers always work for me.
Lunatic Fringe - Red Rider
Limp Bizkit
Three words: NINE INCH NAILS.
Especially good on trainer workouts.
Metallica - Fuel
Jet - Are you gonna be my girl?
+1 on One Shot
Rage Against the Machine - anything will do
AC/DC is always a good one... "Rock n Roll Aint Noise Polution" is the song used in that Nike commerical a while back. Then of course there's the old faithfuls like "Back in Black", "Thunderstruck", etc.
Disturbed - Down with the Sickness
Metallica - Enter Sandman
I'll mentally go through my ipod while sitting here and work and let you know if I come up with some others.
Motorhead (Killers, Ace of Spades, Terminal Show ...)
RV
It takes a long time to get good. - Scott Molina
Slow is smooth; smooth is fast. - Rich Strauss
Metallica, especially the old stuff from Ride the Lightning or Kill 'em all
One Shot by Eminem is the best pre-race song of all time. After I hear that I know it's go time.
Band of Gypsies- Jimi . (I was there for both shows)
Cream- just the live stuff.
Soundgarden once in awhile.
Leslie West, both Mountain and solo stuff with a preference for his live work...the studio numbers are just too Felix Papallardi.
King Crimson..Beat, Three of a Perfect Pair, that time period.
Any Ska, for fun (Reel Big Fish, English Beat, No Doubt...)
"What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?" - Vincent Van Gogh
My Blog: http://agingsuperhero.blogspot.com
hawkeye... i liked the dropkick murphy's song +1 for that.. i never knew thats who sang it.
if you like that you should try Flogging Molly "Drunken Lullibies"
+1 for drunken lullabies
For some reason, "Mother" by Danzig gets me moving
Simon and Garfunkel anyone?
Les Savy Fav - "The Sweat Descends"
Huge second to Danzig's 'Mother', wicked track. 'tip the scales' or 'torches' by Rise Against are huge, also second anything by Rage Against the Machine. and for the last repeat of the session 'final call' by Shadows Fall is pretty wicked if your into that sort of music.
Been doing a ton of really intense trainer sessions lately and have narrowed those tracks down as the ones that will get me through those repeats you don't think you're going to make.
I find music to be a great training tool. In all the years of riding, one CD stands out as the best for a really hard ride on the trainer. Judas Priest - Painkiller, can't listen to this CD without just wearing myself out.
311 always helps me "relax" while on long rides.
Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin for high intensity stuff.
+1 for System of a Down and Strung out
My all time fav workout music is Lagwagon.
Dear Anton,
thank you for representing mu.mu.mu..my genera-a-shun,
my generation bay-bee. :-)
Foo Fighters - The Pretender is a great warm up song because the tempo and the anger pick up as the song goes on. Love it.
- A 21st Century Mom who is tri-ing to get better instead of just getting older
www.breakingthetape.com/21stcenturymom
Parkway Drive for sure.
Back in my football and baseball days it was always War Pigs and the Wizard by Black Sabbath.
Nowadays I get pumped up by the Foo Fighters, old Metallica, and more often than not stuff that is a little more funky like G Love and Special Sauce and older live Dave Matthews Band jams.

Pain is the sensation of weakness leaving the body!
OK, so I don't normally listen to my iPod during workouts, but the music at my school's new Rec. Center is so unimaginably terrible, that I had to break it out to shelter my ears from the XM satellite onslaught of Top 40 Reggeton hits.
That's when i rediscovered THE MARS VOLTA.
The Mars Volta is awesome. In the age of the Emo/Post-Emo crap-a-thon that is the Fall Out Boy generation, The Mars Volta reminds us of why the aftermath of Taking Back Sunday actually IS a good thing after all. New rock sensibility meets musicianship. A marvelous thing, indeed.
I know I already posted once, but I thought I would give some more songs that help me enjoy a workout a little more. The previous list was what I could think of off the top of my head. Those songs with these are a part of my current iPod workout playlist:
Linkin Park- Bleed It Out (For some reason I love the vocals and the beat in the background)
Fort Minor- Remember the Name
Kanye West- Jesus Walks, Hey Mama
Jay-Z- Lucifer
Dispatch- The General,
Sate Radio- Indian Moon
Papa Roach- Last Resort
Pearl Jam- Worldwide Suicide, Black (Great for Cool Down)
Modest Mouse- Float On (Good for a pretty steady flat on a run)
Killers- Mr. Brightside
Waking Ashland- Let Go
Jack Johnson- Bubble Toes and Flake (Love this music---good memories)
Saliva- Your Disease
System of a Down- BYOB
Journey- Don't Stop Believin' (Seriously--can't go wrong with it)
White Stripes- Icky Thump
Drive By Trickers- Let There Be Rock, Where The Devil Don't Stay, Tornadoes
If you like Southern Bluesy Rock---Check These Guys Out---They're Great
Cypress Hill- Rock Superstar
OAR- Heard the World, Crazy Game of Poker, I Feel Home, Get Away
Eagles- Seven Bridges Road
Night Ranger- Sister Christian
U2- With of Without You, Pride (In The Name of Love)
Sorry about the long post; but I think there is at least one song on here for everyone! I know they aren't all "hardcore," but I think they are worth a listen! Enjoy!
+1 on the Drive By Truckers (and Jason Isbell),
and the White Stripes -7 Nation Army
Don't be so easy on yourself 'cause this one might be all that you have left
What's wrong with Reggaeton? And The Mars Volta is indeed awesome.
Just noticed my typo Drive By Truckers---not Trickers.
+1 Jason Isbell , +1 Mars Volta.
What's wrong with Reggaeton? And The Mars Volta is indeed awesome.
EVERYTHING.

I need to put together some new playlists to increase intensity once in a while. Do you guys have any must-haves on your Ipod? Anything for that serious hill climb or big mile training day?
...up wind after egg salad
