I just recently completed my first sprint triathlon in 1:25. The distances were 750m swim, 20k bike, and 5k run. I trained pretty well and did ok compared to the other people, but I really have no idea was a good time is for a sprint triathlon since I mostly just run. Was wondering if anyone had some insight into approximate competitive times for this distance. thanks.

i'm a loser who took 33 mintues to swim 400m but you beat my time

It is better to hurt from doing something than from doing nothing...

First Triathlon (400m/20k/2.75mile) 1:39.15 including 33 minutes in the water

Best thing is to just look at the posted results for your race and see where your splits match up. Comparing times on other courses is not really helpful as distances can vary and certainly conditions, hills wind are so variable. Tho, a "fast" time would be like 1:0x:xx

Oh ya - Congrats on completing your first Tri!

You'll just have to do another sprint triathlon, and compare the 2 times. Congrats on your first, and good luck on your 2nd! :)

i'm a month away from my first sprint. i'd say your time is on the lower end of where I hope to be. for some sample times, check out http://www.setupevents.com/index.cfm choose a race for this year or last year and click on race results...
