Hi! My story is basically that I am 24, recently a college graduate, and moved to Minneapolis, MN in November with my wife to pursue a corporate career for a few years.

I have been swimming all my life as I am sure many of you have as well. I swam in College, and REALLY miss the competition and the level of "fit" that I was. I am so excited to begin triathlons this summer!

Because of my swimming background, I will do my best to support that area of the forum, while I take in all that I can learn from others in the BIKE/RUN area. Eventually, I am more interested in Sprints and Adventure Racing, but I will take anything I can get right now.

My gear~
Swimming: Classic Speedo, Classic goggles, pull buoy.
Running: Shoes, Forerunner, reflective shirt...
Bike: No bike yet, going to use my Father in law's 25 year old road bike after some brief modifications...

If anyone trains / swims at the Lifetime Fittness in Moore Lake, thats where I am too, let me know.

oh, sorry, I forgot to put some baseline pase statistics for myself. I just started up training about a month ago, so I have a long ways to go...

Swim: I can hold pretty well 1:10 / 100 yards for a 1000yard swim. Not even close to my prime, but for just starting triathlons I should be fine as my bike and run will be terrible.

Bike: God only knows. At the gym, I hold 85rpm at level 14 for 30 minutes consistently with a heart rate of about 145. Obviously, that means nothing to anyone...

Run: Still working through shin splints, but run with my dog for 30 min at a 8min / mile pace. Need to get that way down by getting rid of shin splints, and doing solo runs more often. That pace is about my lab's quick trot pace.

Welcome aboard!

I'm in New Hope. I workout and train with the Gear West Tri Club. Once in a while people have used equipment to sell like bikes and/or borrow. I'll have to keep my ears open to see if anything pops up.

I have a swimming background as well, it's just a shame the swims aren't longer so I could build up a better buffer zone for the run.

you're lucky enough to run with your lab? cool. my lab won't run. just won't do it. he's content with ball in the field and swimming. doh - starting a new thread...

Don't be so easy on yourself 'cause this one might be all that you have left

Damn, I was pretty juiced the other day holding 1:55 per 100 with a 30 second rest for 1000M

Good question...I started looking at all the options, and was suprised to see that most have already closed registration for those events a month or two out.. Because of this timing, I need to really look at my schedule and figure out a good date. Probably will be in late may early june!

Welcome! I'm moving to St. Cloud in four weeks. You'll love being a new triathlete in Minnesota. There are so many races, you can really be picky. You've hit a lull until the outdoor races can begin, but come June there's a race every weekend somewhere within driving distance.

Hey, triNick: Please keep me in mind for used equipment as well. Like right now I'm looking fr a gently used full wetsuit. Oh, and I love Gear West! I make a stop there almost every time I'm heading toward the Twin Cities just to drool over the bikes.
