Soooo YES I am a "newbie." I've ran a few 1/2 marathons and many shorter races...never a tri yet. It's in the cards for sure. Anywho, ran the Border to Border this past Sunday in NH...managed a PR thanks to my friend who paced me...so was able to finish in 1:47:16. I know, not great, but not terrible. I am progressively getting faster with each 1/2 I've done...and I know that I have not done NEARLY the training that I could be. Yes, I get miles in, but I have never really ran any tempo runs with faster people so I truly think my speed hasn't improved. I just didn't know the feeling of pushing harder until Sunday. It was flipping AWESOME!!! I know I have potential, so I was pumped to accomplish this!

First tri July 12th...Bottomless in Roswell, NM. WOOHOOO!

That's a pretty solid time, especially without any speed training. I've only done 2 1/2 mary's faster than that and I like to think I'm not the slowest person in the world by any means. Certainly not a medalling time, but very respectable. Good job

Good job! Your message title gots my hopes up. I thought maybe someone was wanting to do the 'Minnesota Border to Border' and needed a teamate. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? BTW, Roswell sounds like an awesome first tri race venue. Good choice.

Congratulations on a great time. The 1/2 mary is a good distance to really push yourself, as you found out. I think you will amaze yourself with how fast you can go when you start pushing the pace in training and following a solid plan. Good luck with the first tri.

soooo I lied, not doing the Bottomless tri. Will be living in New England STILL, rather than moving to NM...which was an original plan. Any one around the NE parts?
