Auburn Triathlon Update

Mike Tyson To Race in Auburn!
An athlete who transcended his sport to become an American cultural fascination is back in the news!
Professional fighter and former World Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson has entered the 2008 Auburn Triathlon!
Recently, Mike has been seen training in various locales, typically operating out of luxury hotels, ala former Australian world champion Miles Stewart. He's been seen on the roads near Las Vegas, Nevada, San Francisco, CA; Malibu, CA and the Canary Islands. "I like to train where is warm; what can I say - boxers like to sweat." Mike turned a few heads at a recent Masters workout at Pepperdine University in Malibu, when he followed some female swimmers into their locker room after workout. After being aprehended by security guards, Mike apologized profusely and explained that he is so accustomed to getting whatever he wants that he thought nothing of it! He was not invited back to Masters.
In 2006, Mike was busted for drunk driving and drug possession in Arizona, an event that inspired him to change his ways. "I quit the sauce, quit chasing the women - actually I didn't ever have to chase them, but you know what I mean - and started doing more road work early in the morning. I'm a morning person; I function best between 2 and 5 in the morning. After that I get tired and have to go to sleep," deadpanned Mike. Soon, I started cycling and I was hooked on aerobic sports," explained Mike. "It's healthier and cheaper than being hooked on Bentley's
"Lightening up some of my muscle mass is the key for me," Tyson explained (Mike currently is 5'11" and 195lbs, slightly below his fighting weight of 205-215). "The heat dissipation process is a major challenge with my level of muscle mass; not to mention my running speed."
"Finding a wetsuit to fit me has been a big problem. Fortunately Emilio DeSoto custom-manufactured a T1 two-piece unit for me," Mike explains. "The wetsuit is an amazing advantage! Now I'm not afraid of the water and I'm not afraid to sink. A guy like me has to always be concerned about those things," joked Mike.
"Over the course of the next 18 months, I want to get in good enough shape to complete an Ironman triathlon," Mike explained about his multisport goals.
"Oh, no, no...not Hawaii!," said Mike about his ironman aspirations - some other place that's cooler, like Canada or Switzerland. Or maybe in France because I like spending time on the beaches of the Riviera, wearing mirrored sunglasses," joked Mike.
"Last year I was visiting Rickey Williams (Miami Dolphins running back suspended from the league for repeated drug violations) at his yoga retreat in Grass Valley (30 miles North of Auburn) and we watched a little of the Auburn Triathlon. I was captivated by the beauty of the course and the amazing physical specimens participating. I couldn't believe anyone could do all three events back to back and not get tired. Being able to participate alongside the great athletes in the 2008 field is a dream come true! I just hope I can survive the whole event. I'm more nervous about this race than I was for heavyweight title fight!," exclaimed Mike.
See you on the starting line May 18th, and get ready for a great fight with Mike Tyson!

..and the Easter Bunny is personally sponsoring me in the April Fool's Triathlon. I just have to wear a bunny suit and hand out chocolates to the children along the way...

LOL. Good one.
