I have recently come into a situation where my family must be able to get a hold of me anytime. I have figured out what to do for the bike and swim, but does anyone have suggestions what to do with a cell phone when running? The other day I ran with the phone in my hand in a zip lock bag.

I have a waist pack for my water bottle that also has a zipper pocket for gels, keys or my phone. Alternatively, do you have one of those armbands for carrying your ipod? Your phone might fit in there instead of your ipod.

You could also run wearing a cycling jersey and just put the phone in one of the pockets, provided it doesn't bounce out.

I have one of the Nathan 5k running pouches that I use when I have to have more stuff with me. It stays in place when tightened down, and didn't really bother me. Mine is similar to this one but mine is a pretty old model, and I believe it was called the 5k version of the running pack when I got it.

I just bought a spibelt at a running expo and used it on Sunday during a 1/2 marathon. I had my phone, id and a coupla dollars in it and didn't even know I had it on - has clips for a race number too. Check out spibelt.com

you can just wear a fuel belt and literally attach your phone using your normal belt clip or if you have a small phone it might fit in the pouch that comes on the belt......i have a blackberry curve and have to use the clip

For regular phones (non-PDA types) a pocket on a fuel belt works nicely b/c you don't notice it bouncing. However, I for one don't like wearing fuel belts for shorter than 90 minute runs. Depending on what kind of shorts you have, you could use the pocket...drop the phone in and the twist the pocket so it restricts the movement of the phone. You would still feel it against your leg, but it's definately doable.

Another option is either using an arm strap designed to hold mp3 players or when your going in cooler weather, I have some long-sleeved running shirts with built in zip pockets on the shoulders for holding mp3 players. I usually carry my mp3 in my hand, so a phone works nicely there.
Some options, protecting with a ziplock bag seems smart in any case
