Tri Suit for a Road Race
I run road races in tri shorts. They are so way better than those whispy little chiffon shorts, which I have worn in the past, but the chaffing! Tri shorts are much more functional because they eliminate forrest fires between my massive quads. The answer to your question falls under the 'if it makes you more comfortable' rule. Who cares what someone else thinks. But honestly, I think wearing a tri suit in a running race is fine. I passed several runners over the weekend's race who were wearing tri suits in a trail 13.1. They (we) didn't wear the typical trail attire, and it was obvious to me from behind they were tri-geeks. So I made sure I passed them. Going uphill. Losers.
tri Shorts and top are fine for any race. It may be a little over the top for some. I'd say no to a skin suit, but a two piece (that sounds so gay) is fine.
It really all comes down to how pretty a female is accompanying you to the race. The prettier she is, the more ridiculous you are allowed to dress. (think super models dating male celebrities who dress in ways that would have you laughed at when walking next to Rosie Odonell) Once you are next to a pretty girl, particularly one prettier than the one with the guy looking at you, the guy then wants to be you, at which point you cease to look stupid, no matter what you are wearing.
It's scientific.

I like the logical argument that Scott laid out.
I would go ahead and wear the tri suit if you are more comfortable in it.

Better call J-Lo
Don't be so easy on yourself 'cause this one might be all that you have left

I really like where your heads are at on this one!

you can mock science but you can't argue with it

what are we talking about again?
oh yeah.. i say, wear the tri suit and talk a little trash.
and if you really want to piss them off, mid race make an emergency pit stop and put on some clip on aero bars lol

Check out my blog!

OK, the thread related to Tri Suit colors got me thinking about an upcoming 10K I am doing here in Charleston. Everyone knows the typical attire of the road racer - baggy lite weight shorts that flap in the breeze and have that weird slit up the sides with the baggy tank top that shows off the runner's Skeletor like physique. Well, I was wondering everyone's take on crashing the Running party in my Tri Suit and what some of the Pitfalls may be. I mean I would hate to get tripped up and trampled by some hardcore runner or beat down at the after race beer tent as a poser!! I mean I feel pretty confident that I can take most runners in a one on one dual, but there are power in numbers!
