Kashi makes awesome oatmeal. They come in small packets and in a few flavors: vanilla, honey & cinnamon. Great if you have a microwave at your final destination.
I got the below cereal recipe from a Runner's World magazine a couple of years ago and pretty much eat 3/4 of a cup daily. I tend to also mix the raisins with some dried cranberries. Portability may be a problem, but I tend to throw a small tupperware container in my bag and grab some milk from the hotel or a quick mart.
Awesome Granola
2 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (about 1/2 pound)
1/2 cup wheat-bran cereal
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/3 cup blanched whole or slivered almonds
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup buckwheat honey
1/4 cup canola oil
1/3 cup seedless raisins
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Combine oats, bran, wheat germ, almonds, and cinnamon in a bowl. Heat the honey and oil in a saucepan until small bubbles appear around the sides of the pan. Pour over dry mixture and toss until well combined.
Spread evenly in a foil-lined shallow baking pan. Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until golden brown, stirring every 10 minutes. Add raisins and cranberries. Cool and store in an air-tight container. Makes about five cups.

Pop tarts. Breakfast of champions.
I probably eat PopTarts 5 days a week, if not every day.

4 blueberry pop-tarts a day since I was a little kid. The only food I never have gotten tired of. Eat two on the way to work each morning.
Don't know about portable, but I'm a big fan of scrambled eggs, taylor ham, and american cheese between two waffles.
But its hard to go wrong with pop-tarts. (unfrosted strawberry for me)

Now that's funny.
Unfortunately, I'm diva-like, and have to have em toasted. But, they can be toasted on the hotel iron.

loaf of bread, PB and apple.
Morning Glory muffins, a little labor intensive, but worth the effort if you have the time to make up a batch before the trip. I used to travel alot and would make these the Sunday before leaving. They do last and travel well--that is if you can avoid eating them all before you get off the plane.

I'm traveling a lot and I want a good, portable breakfast. Wondering if anyone has a good bar/muffin recipe? Or just suggestions. The usual kashi and yogurt is too messy.
