Does anyone know these people?
I know the name of John Wragg from a number of races done in Canada we have done together but I don't know him. Without going back to check results, he may be in the 50-54 or 55-59 age group. Good luck with the races. I've done 13 days between IMs. The 2nd result was not great but have fun with it.
Thx for the info. I've tracked down about 7 of us. I've already learned that 2 of them just signed up for both but just because they couldn't decide which one to do...they will choose one and not race both.
My plan today is to race the 1st one at 60% IM effort then see how I feel for IMWI.

I know these races are hard to get into these days so what happens with the vacant slots - anything or is this an example of the Haves vs. the Have nots?

It really depends on who you know. I know for a fact that there are other "ways" to get into IM events than the regular channels. I was able to get into IMAZ via non-regular channel and also know that there is a constituency from Chicago that got into IM Canada through a non-regular channel.
It's really who you know.
But to answer your question, I think the vacant slots just aren't used...and they compensate for that since I see there are almost 2,500 people registered for IMKY (or was that IMWI...I forget).

I don't know if the IM folks work this way, but we just got a plea from the race director of an upcoming road race to not give our race bibs to other folks if we aren't running. Reason being that their permits from the locales are based on a certain number of athletes, and they build into registration the expectation of a certain percentage of no-shows. So, if they then turn-around and give those spots back out to folks, they might go over those numbers.

Yes, I agree. The non-regular channels I was referring to that I experienced and that my friends from Chicago are doing is directly through NA Sports or WTC...outside the normal registration process after the event is closed.
Definitely would NOT suggest any bib-swaps for IM races...if you're caught, they ban you from IM races for life.

As some of you know, I am doing 2 Ironman races in 1 week (IMKY and IMWI).
I have found several others that have signed up for these races as well and can only assume that it was not a mistake on their part and are crazy as I.
I am trying to connect with them so we can share info while we get ready for these events.
Does anyone know these people? If so, can you have them shoot me an email at:
