Knee pain - Any recommendations?
You might want to take a coupla more days off, sounds like you could be training too fast, too hard. When you do get back out go for a shorter run and slow it down, way down, listen to what your knee is telling you. If it flares up, stop, walk back home and get thee to a doc.
If your knee seems ok after the short, slow run work on getting back to where you were slowly, don't try it in one big chunk.
Good luck.

I don't need to get faster, I just need to get older!
Wouldn't hurt to check your bike fit as well, your seat positioning can really wreak havoc on your knees...
Look into "patellar femoral syndrome" - sounds worse than it is. It has to do with the stability and tracking of the knee cap. The ligaments that hold the knee cap and control lateral movement get stretched and loose. Any orthopedist can diagnose without invasive measure. Time-off and NSAID's are the only 'cure.'
time off is good, like enough time off to go see a doctor
then, do what most people don't do, listen to them and don't work out again until they say to
It is better to hurt from doing something than from doing nothing...
First Triathlon (400m/20k/2.75mile) 1:39.15 including 33 minutes in the water
Rest, ice and take anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen) for a few days. Later on after some rest, you may want to consider strength training for your legs- Hip ADD/ABD, squats, etc
Chiropractor. I know I thought they were quacks, but I used not be able to run because of knee problems. Now I hope to complete an Ironman in 2 – 3 years.

I've been training consistently for the last 2 months and am now beginning to have some pain around my right knee. As best as I can describe, it feels like the joint isn't lined up right and my lower leg feels heavy (as though it's pulling down on my knee). The pain is more of a steady swollen feeling (although there is no visible swelling) on the face of my knee cap. Every once in a while it will "pop" when I lift my heel to my butt and will feel better for a minute or two, but then goes back to the same feeling.
I'm just comming off of a recovery week where I replaced my long run with a 5k (PR of 20:42, beating my previous by 48 seconds!). I don't know if I'm still feeling the effects of racing and need to rest more or if it's something I should get checked out.
Any thoughts?
