With so many nutritionists selling their "best way" theories, im currently looking at the paleolithic diet for athletes. Anyone w/ any feedback or comments on it?

There is a book by Loren and Friel who are well recognized in their fields. Loren I believe first wrote about the diet and then worked with Friel to write a book applying it to endurance athletes.

Yes - I've purchased it from amazon acutally. I have been doing as much of the diet as i know (I had a friend go to a Crossfit certification where they taught bits and pieces of it). Im very anxious to receive the book and work all of the details. Im curious to hear about how it has worked for some people.

I found it difficult to follow, old habits die hard. Even though I did feel good eating more veggies and less carbs from grains I ended up back on my normal (old) diet after a period. You just have to really stick with it. I suppose however I do still apply some of the basics that I gleaned from the book, so less carbs than before from pastas and white rice and such. It may take a little time to adjust and you might feel a bit sluggish in your training without the normal reserves you may have got from your previous diet, so a bit of playing around to find what works best for you on the balance of the foods. Maybe check out Gordo Burns blog as well, I believe he went Paleo and may have written up a couple things.

I think there's been a number of discussions over the last year or two on Trifuel. You may want to search the forums and see what folks were saying.
