I know there was a thread on this already, but that was about someone who was wearing sneakers.

I have a pair of sidi T-1 on shimano pedals

After about 20 mins I feel numbness in my right foot.

I don't have the shoes too tight.

I had the bike professionally fitted, includeding the position of the shoe on the pedal.

There is a little bit more float on the right side pedal, which I will adjust, I am not so sure it is that though.

Would customized insoles alleviate this ?

Thanks in advance

I'm assuming you've tried loosening the shoes as you're riding, since you say you're not wearing them too tight. I only mention it because I do that to myself prety regularly.

Certain part of the foot or all over? Always with socks of the same thickness?

more my toes and front foot area

socks are the same thickness, I think, I might change to a different pair to see

will look at loosening during riding too

thanks

Did you start getting the pain only after your fitting or have you had it all along?

Are you riding on a trainer or rollers or something? I've noticed that my feet get really numb when I ride indoors, and I think it's because you don't shift around very much, but that's just a thought.

Yeah, I have the same thing from time to time. May need to loosen the strap or get wider shoes.

I also tend to use road shoes for training, tri shoes for racing because of the better fit adjustability of the 3 strap road shoes.

If you exclude all of the fit information and just said "I feel numbness in my right foot", I would immediately respond with: Your shoes are the wrong size or they are too tight. And since it appears you've had the shoes before the fitting, I'm going to go with that as my final answer.

As a general rule, it's always better to get shoes in the afternoon instead of the morning because you're feet swell later in the day. So get those shoes when you've got big feet. :)

I had a similar problem. As I ride longer my calves tend to tighten up and I start to point my toe too much on the down stroke, so I was forcing my foot into the end of my shoe. Once I figured this out conciously tried to keep my foot flatter on the down stroke and aleviated the problem. I still get minor foot numbness around 90 to 100 miles but what do you expect, I'm luck if that is all that is numb at that point.

I have a bit of a bend in my right ankle, and if I'm not careful it starts to get numb and hurt really bad. I don't know if that is your problem, but its one of my big ones. The other is my grundle just starts to hurt really bad after an hour or two. Ironman is going to hurt.

I have been told that numbness in the foot that you are describing is caused by pressure on the blood vessel that runs along the top of your foot. This can be caused by shoes that are too tight, pointing your toes down when you pedal, and other issues I'm not intelligent enough to talk about. On one of your easy rides, make sure your shoe is real loose and keep your heal down and see if it takes longer for your feet to go numb...
