Ok, this may have been asked before but i havent come across anything..

What is it with the shirts that expose part of the stomach? I'm assuming theres a logical reason behind something that looks rather silly, or maybe there isnt. Anyone? Anyone? Beuller...

Are you referring to guys or gals?

If you are referring to guys, I agree that they look silly, but for the ladies....

You mean like this? LINK

Kinda looks funny on the guy, but other than "check out my awesome abs" I'm sure there's a reason. Excessive thermal buildup around the midsection?

Man, all I can say after looking at that pic is that one-piece swimsuits are hot. I'll take a one-piece over a bikini any day.

Not for myself of course. I'm strictly a bikini-wearing man. But on the ladies, one-piece are the only way to go.

I'm pretty sure we can blame this fashion on this guy:

I wore a 'too-short' shirt for my marathon this winter. It was really, really comfortable. My chest is wider than my midsection, and most shirts will bouce a bit around my waistline when running. It definitely didn't do that. And it was nice getting hit on at every aid station.

I had ordered a tri top online. I didn't realize it was a short top.
When I put it on, all I could think of was Will Ferrell "More Cowbell!!"

Not a good look for me. Was good for a laugh tho'

I got a too short tri top for cheap ... and though I'm not really fond of exposing my midsection, I figure it's for just a couple hours a few times a year. It's actually quite confortable too (doesn't move around at all). Maybe when I'm rolling in the dough, or my belly starts rolling more, I'll invest in more coverage.

Is it a USAT requirement to wear some type of top on the bike and run legs. In the two tris that I have done, one was USAT sanctioned and the other wasn't. The one that wasn't, most of the guys didn't wear any top at all (of course it was July in South Carolina), but I can't recall anyone in the sanctioned event NOT wearing some type of top. The big difference, was the air temps were much cooler in the sanctioned race, but I don't recall there being any written or spoken rule about tops beign a requirement.
