Foot pain while swimming?

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but for the past two weeks I've been getting a pain on the top of my left foot when I'm swimming. I really don't understand it because I get it when I don't point my toes and it goes away when I point them really hard.

Maybe a tendon or something is getting stuck? Haven't quite been able to reproduce the effect out of the pool. Anyone else ever experience this?

Tell us where the pain is, as best you can... Don't know that I can help, but i'm sure others will be able to answer better if they know better where the pain is coming from:

Yeah medical diagrams :-) Any help I can get is better than none.

Mostly feels like its coming from the area of the "Extensor hallucis longus tendon sheath" but more on the left side of the foot for the smaller toes. I'm swimming tomorrow so I'll see if I can pinpoint it better.
