Right now i would give it a Thumbs Up, but i do not have much to comapre it to besides gatorade. I have stuck with Heed due to its light taste and low sugar content. Gatorade just seems to sour my mouth to much and tends to become very accidict if i drink alot of it. What are the rest of you using? I might be swayed to use something else. Have you had success with HEED or have you just wanted to throw it in the trash? Thank you.

I've bonked on it and so has a buddy of mine. I think it's garbage, but everyone's body is different. I like Gatorade. I've had good luck with Accelerade, too, but it took about a week or so to get used to (I was having stomach cramps the first few days of using it). Usually, though, I just use water and Powergels.

I only have one experience, but I shook my bottle forever, and it never really mixed well with the water. It was just a bunch of clumps in the water, and it tasted horrible, and my bottle is permanently smelly from it. Not like moldy smelly, but it just smells like the HEED.

Could this have something to do with the fact your a Florida U guy? haha

Anyways, I really like eFuel by Crank Sports, I also use their eGels. I like their ingredients and their taste is better than cytomax, gu2o, accelerade, or anything. The eFuel is awesome because it isnt chalky at all and doesnt stain my bottles (or teeth). I never have had my teeth stained but seeing what the other stuff did to my bottles does make me worry.

I've had it on race courses only a couple of times and have always thought it was awful. The fact that it was warm and improperly mixed (too watery) probably had something to do with it, but I cannot say that I have any urge to spend money on it for training.

Looks like im the exception here--I like it because it has a mild flavor and works for me. It does clump though unless mixed properly.

heed is brutal. the aftertaste alone is why. it doesn't mix well and tastes really chalky. like tums.

I don't like it at all. My girlfriend really likes the taste of it. Neither of us have bonked with it, but I usually follow it up with something else, because I can't stand the taste of it.

How do you mix it properly? I really want to try this stuff more because I have a bunch of free samples, but if I have to do it in a blender or something I'll just forget it.

I put in like a half a scoop with 3/4 bottle... shake the living crap out of it, then add in the rest of the powder and shake the living crap out of it more.... then add the rest of the water and shake some more. It seems to mix better with slightly less water. Probably helps SLAM the powder around a bit more and that breaks it up. In any case, can't say I've had the clumping issue with doing it this way.

I also am a non Heed athlete, for some reason hammer products and I just don't work well. Heed is to mild, and Perpeteum just doesn't mix well for me. So I have switched to Nuun and have no complaints.

I have a bunch of free samples plus a huge jug of the powder from a post race drawing, but I can't say that I'm a fan. I don't really use sports drinks that much anyway. My stomach usually doesn't give me problems so I get calories from bars or gels (or candy hearts) and drink a bunch of water.

I guess I'm the exception also. While I'm not a big fan of the taste, it has always worked well for me. Once I started doing endurance events I quickly realized there was no such thing as tasty fuel. I guess I've just learned to turn off my taste buds during these things. Of course, during an 86 miler I ate two cheeseburgers from Hardees! Mmmmm. Grease and fat tasted good after 14 hours of running. I wasn't too concerned about the calories.

I usually can't handle any of the sports drinks. Nuun's ok, but I don't love it. I usually stick to water and the occasional hammer gel (it's the only kind I can stomach).

I am not a big fan of HEED, it does taste like chalk, but if I run out of gatorade I will drink it on the trainer, but I refuse to drink it on the road (I couldnt imagine warm HEED - yuck).

For those who love Gatorade (me)....I was walking around the grocery store (typical), and noticed the TIGER gatorade, at first I laughed, but then looked at the nutritional facts and compared it to regular gatorade (thinking they would be the same exact mix). It turns out that TIGER has more sodium and potassium = better for training. So I am going to start using the "tiga tiga woods ya'll" gatorade for training.

Thumbs up for me. I love the taste. It's not too sweet. I get no upset stomach issues with it vs the super sweet sports drinks. I love the other Hammer products too.

I have never been one to have a sweet tooth so that may be the reason some people prefer it and others dont.

I use Heed and am happy with it and the taste is fine with me. Although I will say that I had the bright idea to use it for a 6 hour AR - and put it in my camelback instead of water. It actually worked okay until I tried to get the taste/smell out of the camelback - ewwwww - wound up just buying a new bladder and tube.

I haven't, but I understand it's liquid sucralose, aka Splenda? I have some liquid sucralose I bought a few years back. I haven't used it as much as I thought I might, for the simple reason that so often I'm cooking in the context of writing recipes for publication, and it makes more sense to use the widely-available Splenda Granular, even if it does have a little carb in it.

Interesting - have been using Heed for two seasons and it works well for me. As many said - it is all about what you can tolerate in training and racing. I use Heed and either Hammer or GU gels mix on the bike and run. Powerbar bar before the swim. Never had an issue - majority of my races are 70.3.
