Alright, so I've read plenty of training books (Food for Fitness, Total Immersion, Training Bible, Going Long, etc...), so that's not what I need. I am wondering if there are any good inspiring books, maybe bios on triathletes or something that are out there. I am looking more for a novel that gets me fired up.

My example is that I used to be on a rowing team and there was a book "Assault on Lake Casitas" about a rower in the early 1980s preparing and racing in the olympics. It would always get me ready to row and keep me motivated during the hard winter season.

I'm basically looking for the triathlon version of that.

Breakthrough Triathlon Training

It's kind of about training from how you feel rather than what your plan says for that day.

Also check out "Triathlete's Guide To ..... Training". I have triathlete's guide to run training and mental training, and there are a few others. They're good reads, but not as much novels. I really like the mental training one so far, and the run training is all about running more efficiently.

Swim Training
Bike Training
Run Training
Mental Training
Off-Season Training

Check out Lance's books if you want something more like a novel. "It's not about the bike" is the most popular I think.

A good running novel is "Running with the Buffaloes," a journalist chronicles the University of Colorado CC team's '98 season, w/ Adam Goucher. Pretty inspiring, real stories.

I just remembered this one...

"Swimming to Antarctica" - Lynne Cox ISBN: 0156031302

... this book made me want to swim. And I hate swimming.

Alright, thanks and keep them coming.

I have read both "It's not about the bike" and "every moment counts" or whatever Lance's follow-up is called, on a side note I thought "positively false" (Landis) was interesting as well to look at cycling from another angle, especially the bio section of the book.

Needless to say, I like to read.

I actually forgot about this thread that I started. There are some good suggestions there too.
