Lance Armstrong bought the show bike of a hand made bike manufacturer at the
North American Handmade Bicycle Show 2008 for 12 grand. It's called a Baba Ganoosh - which is an Arabic word for "salad." Probably because it is an amalgam of several technologies not commonly found together in bike manufacture.
It features "natural materials" in its construction, read "wood" rims and hand grips.
He beat out Robin Williams in purchasing it.

Sam holds the world's record for "fastest human powered vehicle."
CBC Radio ran the item on the show this morning, oh and btw, I was interviewed on the same show - about teaching math with manipulatives. I wrote a book. heh.
