Cold climate - what to wear ?
You'd wear a wetsuit, your tri suit underneath, you may want to consider a neoprene cap over your swim cap, and maybe arms warmers on the bike. I guess it really depends on how cold you get. I'd bring some warmer clothing so you're prepared for everything. I'm assuming you'll show up before race day so you'll have an idea of what it's going to be like and can dress accordingly.

In that water temperature, you will definitely want a wetsuit. Try to rent one a few days beforehand and practice with it. In the race, you just wear a tri suit or tri shorts/top underneath and take off the wetsuit in transition. Be sure to put Bodyglide or a similar lubricant on your wrists, ankles & neck to minimize chafing and make it easier to pull the suit off.
For those air temps, a normal tri suit should be fine on the bike and run. If you get cold very easily, you might want to use a pair of arm warmers on the bike.
nearly everyone will have a wetsuit...not everyone, but it's probably a good idea if you're not used to colder climates.
underneath wear a trisuit (or trishorts and a shirt) and you're good to go
while we do have the potential to be cold here as late as June, usually it's just the right kind of cool weather for endurance sports.
bring along arm warmers or a long sleeve bike shirt in case it's breezy. the bike ride is along the Columbia River, and it can be windy sometimes. By June, even if it's overcast, it shouldn't be that cold so leg warmers or long tights are probably not needed. Definitely have a warmup jacket and pants for before the race (and potentially after too), just in case. During the race, you'll warmup just fine.
i will be at blue lake as well. Last year the water wasn't too cold, and I don't think the neoprene cap is necessary unless you are one who can't tolerate a little cold. Transition area is a short run from the lake. The park is open, so check out hte course before you race.
i definitely will do that on friday or saturday - thanks and see you there

Dear friends !
I live in Central America where temperatures rarely are below 75 F (water temperature maybe around 70 F). I am going on a vacation to Oregon in June and would like to participate in the Olympic distance BLUE LAKE TRIATHLON event (see: http://racecenter.com/bluelake/index.htm ). Water temperature is around 60, outside temperature around 65. I have no experience at all about what to wear at this event.
I guess that I need a neoprene swimsuit. How dos transition work ? Do I wear a normal tri-suit under the swim suit ?
Thanks for any tips you can give me.
Regards
Gunter
