So next week I start Base 2 training and there is the addition of Force workouts that I need to be adding. The recommended force workouts in the Training bible involve hill climbs. I live in Charleston SC and the only hill is the bridge over the Cooper River. Its a climb of only 200ft at 4%, so you can get a descent run workout on it, but the a bike workout I'm not sure classifies as a real hill not to mention, that the expansion joints play hell on your wheels.

So, other than driving a couple of hundred miles inland, are there any recommendations for hill work. I have my trainer, but I'm not convinced that I can simulate a hill on it, but then again, there was no real instructions that came with it either.

Pain is the sensation of weakness leaving the body!

It is better to hurt from doing something than from doing nothing...

Drop into a big gear and stand? The bridge doesn't sound like the best option.

I know someone who puts the front wheel on a box almost two feet off the ground. It certianly adds a balance challenge. I find a single foot to be way steep.
