Here is a site where you can vote to petition to get Levi and Astana into the Tour de France in July. This isn't the same Astana group of riders that was thrown out of the tour in disgrace last summer. Why should the current riders be punished for the actions of those last year? I hope the ASO will reverse it's decision.

I agree but i dont think there is a chance of the ASO going back on their decision.

I fixed the link. Super long ones need to be wrapped in BBCode. ex. [ url ] [/ url ] (without the spaces and the link between)

I agree that Astana should be allowed in the Tour since they are a completely new orginization but I do not understand why the focus is on Levi. He is not even the best rider on his own team. I am MUCH more interested in seeing Contador ride HE is the defending TDF Champ and an absolute superstar.

It's probably more a pr thing that the team and their sponsors are doing. In the US, their focus would be on homeboy Levi because he would have the best name recognition stateside. They might be doing something similar in Spain called "Let Contador Ride" for all I know.

I agree that Astana should be able to ride, but I understand why they're not letting them. Even though they are a completely different team, most people still recognize the baby blue jerseys, and they recognize the name itself, and they have a sour taste in their mouths. Most people don't follow the ins and outs of racing to know that it's a completely different team. But most people who watch the tour casually remember the bad experience with Astana, and they would probably be turned off to see them in the tour this year. Just a thought.

I think it is more political - muscle flexing. Not sure what the motive would be.
Casual followers of the tour would be probably be hard pressed to name 4 teams.
Think it sends a bad message - When they completely revamp the team and much of the management and that is not enough to earn an invite? What else can the team do?
That type of move will scare sponsors away.

You're probably right. Either way, I think it speaks very poorly of tour organizers.
