Spirit of the Marathon last night
I saw the movie last night and I enjoyed it. My guess is that most people walk out and say lets go run or that they want to start training and sign up for a marathon. I left thinking to myself, 42 KM/26.2 Miles is FAR, very FAR and it is a heck of an accomplishment. I personally focus too much time looking and analyzing results than looking back, enjoying, and patting myself on the back for such a distance. Good movie, hopefully they put it on itunes, youtube or a dvd because I would watch it again. Congrats to all that have done a marathon and triple congrats to those that have done it in a full IronMan !!! From now on I want to be a zen runner so no more watch :)

I dropped the training log and the watch (for 90% of my runs) 3 years ago. Still use the heart rate monitor at times but I knownot to let myself get crazy with it. Not Zen yet but hopefully I will be one day.
Agree with ryanweeg that Deena is a really likable and tough athlete. Became a fan last night. 145 mile weeks and smiling most of the time. Amazing.

Saw the Spirit of the Marathon last night and it was great. The cinematography was really cool, they made chicago look awesome. And of course running is so much better when they have dramatic orchestra music throughout the movie. Anybody else see the movie, what did you think?
All I have to say is I am definitely a Deena Kastor fan now, she seemed awesome with her attitude and the way she held herself and spoke in her interviews and everything, very down to earth, it was refreshing.
"If one can stick to the training throughout many long years, that willpower is no longer a problem. It's Raining? That doesn't matter. I am tired? That's beside the point. It's simply just that I have to."
