All right! Another fast Clyde.... Right now I am 227lb at 6'4, but by my first race, I should be down around 215, and as long as I eat enough, I can usually stay above 205 pretty easily, but it's a challenge to eat 4000 calories a day some times, am I right? Its almost a burden to have to eat all the time.
Good luck this year, I am hoping to place, if not win, our little Dallas triathlon series in Clyde.

I just registered today also, so I'll piggy back on this thread instead of creating a new one.
First year of tri's. Been cycling and running for several years. Have a few centuries and marys under my belt, along with shorter races. But, man, that swimming is a beast huh? Haven't had lessons since grade school and form is just ugly.
Anyway, time to get back to work.
Welcome aboard to the both of you.
welcome and congrats on the addiction!
Right on!

Wow - I appreciate all of the encouragement! I also appreciate the fact that you guys have a great community here at Trifuel! fpugsley- addressed my biggest hurdle, bodyweight! Before I started endurance training I usually weighed in at 210-215 lbs. Last year during the two sprint tri's I dropped down to around 190lbs. I had two big issues at that bodyweight: #1 I will never be as fast as a 30+ AG guy that weights 150-160lbs. #2 I'd like to maintain some body mass and stay above 200 lbs.
I originally thought I should compete in the AG category, but then I realized - hey this is how my body is built! I was trying to conform to the weight restriction instead of just being myself. Besides, in the spirit of triathlons you are competing against yourself!
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Indeed welcome to both!
To tri or not to tri - that's not a question at all!
I hear ya Kerry... I still go to the gym and do strength & Power workouts to keep my muscle mass up way above what is necessary to excel in triathlon. And my room mate is one of those AG guys who weighs 155 and actually used to be a pro triathlete on the ITU circuit... When we are on training runs, he loves to say "Hey, you wanna see what its going to look like when i pass you at the next race?" Then he stops for a few seconds and blows by me. Us big dudes just cant hang with you skinny guys! I am not a kenyan and I dont have any 'powerthirst' --

Y'all HAVE to watch that.... its greatness

Hello to everyone at Trifuel! My name is Kerry and I am a new triathlete! I am 30 years old and will compete in the Clydesdale division this year. I started last year after a friend of mine gave me the idea. I did two sprint triathlons last year and really fell in love with the sport! This year I am trying to get my stuff together with training, equipment and get more involved in the community!
My goal for 2008 is to finish and place in the Clydesdale division at North Carolina's first Ironman the Beach 2 Battleship triathlon!
I started Triathlonquest to blog my life, training and upcoming competitions. Please take a look around the website and let me know what you think! It is a work in progress and I will be trying to update it as often as possible.
Thanks and I look forward to getting to know all of you!
