Yucky Winter!
It was sunny and 70 here in Dallas on Friday.... sorry :( If its below 40, we dont ride, if its below 30, we dont run.... it's all degrees of the same problem!
Hang in there - spring WILL be here soon. Good job training in that mess - and to keep your sanity, don't look at POC's Mexico thread :D

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm in Madison, WI and this winter has been brutal. So far, total snow accumulation is around 85", as opposed to our "normal" 35. Crazy. I've been spinning indoors with other folks, running indoors, and ran in the Miami half marathon to stay sane. Hang in there. Spring is "almost" here. ;^)
Thanks so much, y'all. And hey, Madison--I'll be in your neck of the woods for eight weeks this summer. The weather's a whole lot purtier there then :). 85"?? Even yuckier.

I'm from Minnesota, and yes it sucks ALOT. The temp didn't get above 0 degrees today so i consider 30 degrees almost shorts weather lol but you just gotta bundle up and do it, I always feel better afterwards ;)
Think of how good those forst days in the 40's and 50's will feel. If it is reallly windy remember to run into the wind to start. Makes the return seem warmer and easier.
I thought winter was on the way outta here in Jersey. Look out the window, heavy flurries with 4" of fresh snow on the ground--6-9" by days end, 28 and freezing rain later.
The UPS guy dropped off a new pair of Salomon XAs yesterday, perfect timing. I'm going for a run!
Embrace the winter, rebekahliz. It will soon be over!

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
Had a great 5 miler this morning in the fresh snow. It is beautiful outside. Grippers rock.
Thank, cayman. I must have prayed to the right training gods because Sunday's 18-miler was fantastic! Absolutely no wind, about 36 degrees. Translated to my most cosistent pace of the season.

Now that's just cruel! Back to 18 degrees and 20 mph wind gusts here again. But I just scheduled a little R&R on Sanibel Island to visit family in May. Must hang on...

Hey, trimas: You're making national news with your record snowfall! Hang in there!

This winter has been worse than last year. I remember running outside through most of December 2006. This year, I have been stuck on the dreadmill since November, sigh. Did get out and ride the fixie this weekend. Not sure if that helped or hurt my cabin fever.
MN springs are great, it is just around the corner. I can't wait.

Sanibel sounds nice. Do you need a bag carrier?
23 days to Spring.

I am quite sure someone posts something like this every year, and I have tried to avoid burdening you all with my crappy attitude about the weather, but now I have to reach out lest I risk complete insanity:
I opted to move my mary to spring this year for many reasons--mainly because it best accomodated my new triathlon season (woo hoo!). Well, that would work out just fine if I still lived in North Carolina, where training temps in the winter are almost ideal. But for the past three years my training / life has been split between Indiana and Minnesota, and the winter training is really, I mean really starting to get to me. For weeks I've been battling freezing rain or torrential snowfall, temps in the teens or single digits, and wind gusts of up to 30 mph on my long runs, and I just don't think I can take much more.
So I'd love to hear some feedback on beating the winter blues--everything from how you Minnesotans keep your fuel thawed to "quit your bitchin'--it's 30 below here!" will do.
