Actually this is probably a good thread to pose this question. In creating an advanced profile or bio for members what questions/info would you want to share?
What I have thus far on list:
- location
- longer bio or history (free form field)
- primary distance (sprint, oly, half, iron)
- skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced, professional)
- gender
- favorite leg/event (swim, bike, run)
any other common data points that might be important/interesting?

Maybe a place to link out to other sites/blogs/etc. For example, I'd put a link to my MotionBased account in there so if people wanted to check my workout tracks they could. In fact, MotionBased even does RSS feeds...
Also, on the profile page, the "recent submissions" section seems to lump posts, photos, events, whatever -- all together. It'd be kinda nice to have some sort of little icon next to the title to indicate what type of submission it is.

Race pace for each event?

I would almost recommend that instead of/or in addition to skill level that you have some sort of time to be coupled with "primary distance" to help quantify your skill level to others.

Good additions....
Here are my thoughts. On AG I'm going to try and figure out a way to do Birthdate and then the age group will change as you get older so you don't have to update it each year. That will probably come phase 2 as a little more computing to it.
On pace, yes skill level is one way to get a glance at where people are, But I was thinking of building a "race reports" database where you could make your write-up and then enter in splits for each discipline and overall time. Then I'd add a tab to your profile like we current have for "Stuff" and "Events" called Race Reports which would table the event, distance, and your splits. So your "pace" would be displayed by event over time and not something you'd have to edit in your profile. So rather than say my race pace for Ironman is between 11 and 13 hours depending on course, you could just click on my "race reports" tab and see my swim, bike, run splits for the Ironmans I've done. I think pace in Profile might be too many variables such as course, swim, bike, run. pace at different distances, etc.
BTW,
what about music, movies, books type stuff. so maybe open text fields for music i train too, favorite books, favorite movies, then roll up members by similar tastes in those types of fields?

I like that idea. I think it would make the site even better.

So, as was mentioned in another thread, we need a new thread to find out where everyone is, and especially if anybody is looking for training buddies. Hopefully it's not too presumptuous of me to start the thread myself, but here goes.
I'm in Provo, UT (BYU student). I'm pretty new to stuff, so I might be boring to train with, but I'm always looking for new people to bike with.
So, let's hear where you're all from. I also made a google map that will show where we all are, so everyone post your zip code, and that will be a cool way of seeing where everyone is.
Here's a link to the map . I'll update it as people post on this thread.
