Hello from the city of Noordwijk in the Netherlands.
I am a French guy new to the tri, hopefully did some running when I was living in France (Paris-Versailles 16.3 km in 1H32 ) and currently I am using my Dutch bike to commute and go to the nearby town some 15km from home and I keep running 3 times a week.
I plan to do a 1/4 in May and hope to get hooked enough and manage to balance work + tri so that I can do a 1/2 in October.
The big, really big problem comes from the fact that I can hardly swim 25m ;-)
A+
Lionel
Bonjour Mon Ami
Je suis Quebecois, et je vein de Montreal. Presently I live in Halifax NS and like you I have a hard time with the swim. I am working on it and have managed to put together about 300 m recently. My hope is to compete in a sprint tri (500m, 20 K, 5 K) in May this year. Welcome to the team and goodluck in your training.
P.S. persistence is what it takes with the swim
Salut est a plus tard.

Bien le bonjour :)
I would say we are in the same boat, not drowning but almost..
The good news when one is at the bottom of the ladder is that things can only improve :p
If I manage to complete my 1/4 in May I plan to participate in Montreal's 1/2 Esprit in September
as you are from Montreal, even if a little bit away from it today, maybe you will be in Montreal in September.
Bonjour Lionel,
Unfortunately I grew up in Montreal but don't live their anymore. I live on the coast in Halifax. Although we'll see how my sprint tri times are in the spring/summer and maybe I may go to Montreal for the Oly distance. It'll give me an excuse to visit my parents. IN any case good luck in yyour training, I still haven't drown yet, but I think I drank about 2 litres of pool water om Friday. Slow and steadt wins the day.
Bonjour from Alberta. (thats about all the french we speak in Alberta)
As everybody has said just keep at it. I have been hitting the pool about 2 times a week and went from having trouble doing 250 meters to last week finishing 1000 meters without stopping. I try to concentrate on keeping my body flat from head to toe. I still have an issue in breathing comfortably though, but spending time in the pool is deffinately helping.
Au revoir.
