Sprint-HIM too close?
ditto what tri-ac said. you are cutting it close but as long as you keep the intensity level down you should be fine. then lots of rest that final week before the HIM.
Actually, since he should be in taper, the intensity would increase while the volume decreases. That would make the sprint perfect. I wouldn't go balls to the wall but I think you can go fast.

The Sprint wil be just fine. Just make sure you dont go so hard as to hurt yourself- the final sprint to the finish line isnt worth it when you've got a bigger fish to fry the next week. I did back to back races a few times last year and it went real well.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
I also agree with what everyone is saying, just make sure you don't go so hard in the sprint that you injure yourself and you should be fine.
I plan on having my 2 A races this year be back to back weekends. Olympic followed by my first HIM. Sorry I don't have evidence to support that this is a good idea, but at least you won't be alone!
having the A races close together isn't bad, you'll still be in your peak period. You either want them close together or very far apart to allow for rebuilding. Just make sure to rest/fuel well

Is it ok to race a spint the weekend before a HIM? I did 6 sprints last year and plan to tackle a HIM this year. I'm planning my first olympic on 5/18, then a sprint on 6/21 and 7/5. The half is on 7/12. Should I drop the 7/5 sprint since it is too close to the half or will it provide good practice? A top 50% finish with a smile are my goals for the half.
Thanks,
Mark
