I can't believe this happened to me...
That sucks man. Glad to hear you were able to get a trial pair of contacts.
I had something similar happen to me one time on a long bike ride. I was about 35 miles away from my house in the middle of nowhere and all of a sudden one of my contact lenses popped out. Having no chance of finding it on the road, I had to ride the rest of the way home with one eye shut.
That happened to me, and no sh*t, also on I-57! I was riding home from a football game at U of I with some buddies and leaned out the window for the same reason, and there went my glasses. But...I was sitting in the front seat & miraculously they were sucked back into the car through the back window. Perhaps the luckiest thing thast's ever happened to me...I should have bought a lottery ticket on my way back.

Perhaps the most bizzare experience I have had in a while.
During a business trip to Illinois, I was sitting in the back of a Ford Expedition on I57 between Champange and Chicago, my co workers occupying the front seats. I had a little chest congestion, and coughed up a little present. Deciding the right thing to do was to get rid of it, I opened the rear window, planned to get rid of the present, and thought little else. I leaned toward the window, and before I even knew what had happened, my eye glasses were GONE!!! Sucked right off my face. My co workers stopped and kindly searched the mile or so we covered (it was 7 degrees !!!) but to no avail.
It ended well, with a phone call to my optometrist (at home) who convinced the folks at the Pearl Vision Center in Kankagee, IL to hook me up with a trial pair of contact lenses, but man, never saw that coming!!!
Do not understimate the power of wind.
