I am curious as to what some of your favorite drills to do on the swim/bike/run. I know a few, particularly swimming, but they get repetetive during the winter months.
Do you know of any links that offer some suggestions?
I know a lot of people are focusing on form during these months, so I thought this would be a good topic to bring up.

barefoot intervals on grass are great for running form

you would be amazed at how fast your feet go numb while running in the snow barefoot. after a few beers my roomate and i decided to have a competition over who could run the furthest barefoot in the snow, and ride furthest through the snow (on a beater, of course) without falling over. was it the smartest thing we have done, no. was it a load of fun, yes.

Last time I did the drunken snow run, I was sneak attacked by a garden gnome. I may have walked away with some busted toes and a half dozen stitches, but I'm pretty sure he's still sitting at the bottom of the pond that I pitched him into. Needless to say, I won that round.

There are a number of swim drills out there - just do a quick google search or even look on youtube. Running drills are tough in the winter (at least in the great white north). On the bike, I'm becoming a big fan of isolated leg drills. If you ever wanted to expose flaws in your pedaling technique, do 10-12 minutes every other session. After about 5 or 6 minutes (alternating 30 sec per foot), I start to get the hicup in my pedal stroke and have to focus on spinning smoothly.

i apologize guys didn't see the "winter" part

try riding your bike across a frozen lake in order to focus on not wobbling and riding a straight line..........as an expert level to this drill......drink first........if you can do this drunk......(i don't drink but have watched many friends down a rent payment at a bar).......then you have achieved a level of mastery at cycling that would leave me in awe of you.......,

let me know when you've done it.....i will have my awe prepared

That is a good workout. amazing how much dead space there is in my pedal stroke! Think small circles!

Pain is the sensation of weakness leaving the body!
