I was reviewing a few of the articles on this site and came across the ^ week basic triathlon program schedule, I'll admit it is not that clear to me. It is towards the end of the schedule. is that last day fri. a typo and suppose to be Sunday?

I have tried to paste it below but due to formating doesn't workout right.

so this is the link:

Thanks for the feedback, and posting so much good information.

The link doesn't work - I think it may be too long because when I try to cut and paste the URL, I get the same problem. But if the article is titled "Triathlon Training Program for Beginners" with the 6 week table at the end, then I would agree that it is a typo and should by Sunday and not Friday in the last row.

Thanks for the quick response. I figured it was a typo but being my first sit down and research efforts on the training prospect I wanted to be sure it wasn't some freaky alternative injected just to confuse me more.

Another question though, looking over that 6 week training much of it I already do (biking and running) is it wise to train in two area in the same day? ie. swim then run? or run then bike? Or should I focus more on my perceived weakness, swimming? and occasionally bike and run?

I am planning on starting out small with the sprint version and my goal was to finish. In reality I know I will do that.

Last question for now, Is it unrealistic to plan two sprints in a two week time?

Thanks again,
Martin

The very nature of triathlon is to stack those events up, so it won't hurt you as long as you are building to the appropriate stress level. In other words, be careful about building your endurance and not take on a large increase in training volume in a short period of time. Alot of people will do a a sport in the morning and another in the afternoon. Coupling the swim like that works well because of the difference in muscle groups. Another popular tri training workout is the "brick" which couples the bike with the run. Start with the bike and then quickly transition to the run simulating race conditions. This transition creates a unique sensation that is helpful to experience prior to your first race. Me personally, I get bad cramps in my calves that I seem to be able to train out of those by adding brick workouts to my schedule - especially in the last month leading up to my race.

Lastely, I would think doing two sprint distance races within two weeks would be a good thing. I recommend that you go out and get Joe Freil's Triathlete's Training Bible, which can help you structure a season of training and racing.

Hey, by the way, welcome to the Trifuel Family ;-)
