What is your Pre Race Warmup?

I've noticed that it takes 5-10 minutes for the heart/body to get into "workout mode", the blood loading to the proper muscle groups I suppose. Once I get there my speed improves and I feel comfortable aerobically.

So I'm curious, what does everyone do for a pre-race warmup?
Does anyone have a "swim specific" warmup?
How about if it's a pool start and you aren't going to get a place to swim before your start time?

I'm doing Sprints and Olympics but would be interested to hear from all distances.

For Sprints through HIM I would swim for 5-10 minutes and stretch. I have never needed to do serious warmups unless I was running a 5K-5 mile race. Before that I quick ride is a good idea to check that your bike is functioning and to get into the gear you want to start out in.

Before the IM it was a little stretching and a lot of nervous shaking.

I would mostly do a little swim warmup. Depending on how much you use your legs when you swim, they'll probably be pretty warm by the time you get to the bike. If you do a little swim warm up, then your arms will be all ready, and you should be good to go. Stretching is also very important. I generally feel ready to go after a good stretch regardless of whether or not I've "warmed up".

Everyone has something that works for them...
I like to jog for 8-10 minutes, then set my shoes up and then go swim for 5 or so minutes, and get a feel for how the swim start is going to be.

I do about 20 minutes on a trainer then swim about 500m with a few pick-ups.

For the full IM, I might get in the water to fill my wetsuit then stand around if it is a beach start, or bob nervously if it is a deep water start. That's it.

Within 20 minutes of the start, I will run a mile or two. Getting my heart rate up before the swim usually calms the anxiety of the race start. Just before the start, I will enter the water and swim around a bit.

Almost any swim distance is a challenge for me, so I save my energy to make it thru the swim and kick butt on the bike and run :)

I jog for ~15 min with strides and pickups. Then I bike for ~20 min with a couple pickups and spin-ups. I'll only do a swim warm-up if its hot out or I can do it immediately before the start. I get cold really easily and standing around shivering for more than 10 min before the start is miserable.
