I am going to run in the Runners World Half Marathon in late April. This is going to be my first half marathon and my longest race to date (I have never run a race over 10K). Has anyone run it before or have any training suggestions? I don't forsee having a problem with it...The way I see it is if you can run 10 mile training runs, you can run 13.1 miles. Anyway, thanks for your help.

I'm typing this with a 35 pound dog on my lap...

I have run a few half marathons and 2 marathons. I have also done a half-ironman. In terms of training, the key to half marathons or marathons is building up to decent mileage. For example, you want to incorporate 1 long run per week into your schedule - ie start at 4 or 5 miles, and build up to 14-16. They say not to increase your weekly mileage by more than 10% each week, so it depends where you are now in terms of fitness etc. How many miles/week are you doing now? Are you running to finish or to complete in a certain time?
