Let me start by saying I have been reading these forums for a few weeks now and it seems like a great place for information.
I have never ran a tri and I haven't even thought about it until about two weeks ago. I run 5ks and 10k races on a regular basis and I tried out a friends road bike one sunday afternoon and nearly fell in love. It was such an amazing feeling.
Anyway, I want to start training and compete in my first spring tri sometime this summer. (An extremely reasonable goal I would think.) However, I have been reading about the differences between road and tri bikes and I understand the differences between the two but I don't know which direction should i take.
My primary goal would be to compete several sprint triathlons a season and work my way up to larger distances. I am not going to buy two separate bikes one to train and one to race. I am also leaning towards used bike due to I am new to the sport and dont want to drop a ton of cash. Would it be better to start with a road and just use it for tris? or to get a solid tri bike and just train on it as well.
Also suggests for bike types? I road on a felt and it was very nice.
Thanks in advance.
