Found A Good Article
We seem to have been getting a bunch recently..nutrition, clothing, training programs..what not.
Maybe we should have an "Ads" thread.
I seem to do just fine training for ultras and IM's on that nasty old nutritionally depleated stuff.

Hmmm...
Janet - Since you wanted us to tell you what we think. I think advertisements masquerading as posts are somewhat of a scam. According to your profile you've been a member of Trifuel for all of 90min. curious.

I think the outpouring of us "flagging" the post the old fashioned way should suffice for now. Suffice to say, we are all a little sick of this. I'm not going to bother flaming the OP, considering the fact that they will probably never come back here to read it. SPAM!
Are we sure Janet isn't just interested in the article? I didn't find the post on other tri sites, which is usually a red flag.

It was more the article itself that bothered me. Maybe the OP was just interested. It does seem fishy that someone would join to post about an advertisement disguised as an article, but it was definitely the article itself that bothered me the most.
Maybe I'm just jaded because I just read another article, and I got to about page 5 before I realized that it was a shameless plug for some lame supplement.

I hear ya. I'm usually the first to pull these when I see them, but would hate to delete if it were legit. if it goes unanswered then I'll delete it.
Sorry... I am new to this forum, but I read a lot and I thought it was ok to post links to other articles on the internet.
Should I not do this at trifuel???
I really thought the part about athletes being able to obtain only 11% of the nutrients from the foods they eat that they could've obtained a few decades ago would have raised a few eyebrows (which is the part on pages 2-3). Doesn't anybody else find this concerning?

yes, please post information or articles from other sites... we just got hit the last couple days with several people joining (or returning) only to promote their personal sites or products so we tend to be a little suspicious.
It does sound interesting, I haven't had a chance to give it a full read yet. will do so...
thanks for joining us Janet.

It would concern me if it was written by an unbiased source. Like the Chick-Fil-A commercials with the cow holding the signs that say "Eat Mor Chikn". There's definitely a vested interest in the outcome.

Apologies, Janet for the harsh introduction to the community. We really are pretty welcoming. It's just a red-flag to some of us when people choose to make their first post a link to a somewhat biased article.
I disagree with what is stated (we get 11% of nutrients from food)... this seems low, and isn't really supported. The fact that one Doctor says it doesn't make it a fact. A quick search doesn't show any journal articles with this kind of information, and Dr. Misner isn't putting any of these pearls of wisdom up for peer-review. This fact it troubling to me, and I am sure to many other people here.
In any case, please take the advice of this article with a grain of salt, evaluate it with its bias in careful consideration...
And, please accept my sincerest welcome to the Trifuel community. I hope that your next interaction is a bit more pleasant than this one...
Yeah, sorry if the introduction seemed too harsh. 99% of the time, a post about a new company/website/articles, combined with the fact that it is the posters first post, means that it's a troll that is trying to get free advertisement. If that's not the case with you, then just ignore all the replies. I'm sure you'll have much more pleasant correspondence in the future. This is actually a really friendly and accepting forum. And sorry we all ganged up on you.

Hey everybody,
I just found a useful (but LONG) article on nutrition:
www.e-caps.com/downloads/triathlonsuccess_secrets.pdf
If you want, skip down to the bottom of page 2 where it says "Premium Insurance Caps" and just read a few lines on to page 3.
It's kind of scary to think about the depleted nutrient values in today's foods, but it's very important to consider because it's really something that affects us all. It really makes me wonder why we choose to ultimately hurt ourselves more by using so much fertilizers and pesticides.
Let me know what you think!
