oh, sure...
Active.com is the devil. It seems like all triathlons use them for their registration, and their servers are so weak, and they charge a lot for inferior service. Check this thread for more active.com venting.

ya. i signed up for Lake Stevens yesterday and it took like 7 attempts to login and 2 emails.
Seems fixed this morning, and now I'm all signed up. And it looks like the initial information I found on Active.com was slightly off in that they had the wrong day. Instead of Saturday the 26th, its Sunday the 27th. So much for my usual sleeping in on my birthday. :-)
Beyond that, I had to follow the link to the race's website, which actually was a different race by the same people in the fall, find the link to the right race on their site to go back to Active.com in order to register. I have to believe there is a better way to do this; I never have this kind of problem signing up for a 5k or 10k. Do they just not like triathlons?
Active sucks. Period. I had (HAD!) tons of data (years!) on coolrunning and when they sold out to The Man, Active didn't think that it was important to provide a cumulative mileage/time function. (Yeah, no one really needs to know how many miles they've covered in the past year.) So, I ditched them and came to TriFuel.

I was just looking at the other april Bassman race. I need something to justify me going to the pool. have you done any of these bassman events before?
Active.com is the evil twin of Ticketmaster. I feel like we, as athletes, are trapped because we have little recourse. Can't just say, "I'm not going to use Active" because we would never be able to register for races.

Nope, and this'll be my first Tri ever to boot.

The event websites for the races I did last year all provided alternate means of registering, e.g. mail or fax. I did this a few times to avoid paying the fee on Active.com & had no problems. If you're trying to get into a popular race at the last minute, this probably wouldn't work, but just throwing this out there as an option.

That's a great point. Like you said, it wouldn't work for super popular races, but I think I might try that for one of my smaller races this year. Thanks for the tip.

You know what... I always pass up that option... But I vow that I am going to start doing that as often as possible. I am really sick of Active.com, but doing nothing about it. Now's the time to be proactive (not pro-Active)...

Hey--are you doing Pac Crest too?? We are planning on being down there doing the 1/2/. I am torn on whether to do Lake Stevens, only because its only a week later. It's here though so I feel like I should.

Well I PROBABLY will :)
Yeah, let's be proactive Anti-Active.
You just gave me a reason to have a signature. :D

Base 1 (Week 2, 16.5hrs)
Check out my blog!
where did you see it was an xterra/off road race. active.com's description says "The bike course is primarily right turns on country roads with wide shoulders. " i think it is a regular road tri:
http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?CHECKSSO=1&EVENT_ID=1491323&RESET...
The original search results from Active stated it as an XTERRA, which it isn't really, but that only makes sense with all the other errors on the original Active listing. The only off-road part is the run, which is on the park's trails.
well a road tri I might be able to swing. there is way too much crashing involved with xterras for me.

Right when I'm about to make it official and register for my first Tri, Active has to have an aneurysm with login activation crap.
*sigh*
That's all, no big question; just venting some minor frustration.
And in case you just need to know its the Bassman Xterra just north of Atlantic City on April 26th. I figure that's a good way to kick off my bday weekend.
