Breakfast Nutrition
It really comes down to what you can stomach in the morning. Most breakfast foods are just considered breakfast foods because they're easier to eat in the morning when many people don't feel like eating anything, not because they're nutritionally better in the morning or anything. You could pretty much eat anything you want in the morning.
Try some carbs in the morning too, like some pasta or rice or something. Maybe this post was completely worthless, but I hope it made sense.

I usually have First Breakfast at 5:15...Bagel with peanut butter and jam. Tea. Some fruit.
Second Breakfast at about 9. Fruit mostly. Lunch at 11:00. A nice stout sandwich that includes some sort of lean meat, pretzels, fruit and water.
Have experimented and on mornings when I don't have the BP I get hungry earlier.
Had a lot of success with oatmeal and fruit too.
On some rushed mornings I stop and grab a panini. A lunch sandwhich for breakfast works just fine.

what is a good source of protein for breakfast other than shakes, eggs every day, a sports bar, etc.
I put a scoop of whey in my oatmeal. Vanilla works best.

Not fast enough.
Since you are up early morning, once 10:00 am comes around, it feels later than it is. Try eating foods that aren't necassarily "breakfast" foods, but that just sound good to you. What was mentioned whole wheat pasta and brown rice are great choices. Plus, those foods will give fill your tank up for you next workout. Add in some good lean protein (chicken, turkey) to those foods and your good. Other options are lean turkey slices, any type of fruit, peanut butter/jelly sandwich, glass of low fat chocolate milk (easy on the chocolate mix), handful of almonds or trail mix, apple and peanut butter, celery and peanut butter, yogurt with granola and fruit, smoothie (fruit, yogurt, juice, scoop of protein).
When it comes to food preparation, it is important to use your imagination so you are not stuck eating the same exact foods every day. Variety is key when sticking to a healthy food plan.
Hope this helps!

thanks all...i usually have a bowl of whole grain cereal with 2%milk but after a 60-75 minute run/swim or weight session it is pretty much gone and i usually follow it up with a granola bar, yogurt, or luna bar...the luna has good protein but my wife pointed out i seemed sluggish in the afternoons/evening and suggested probably not enough protein.
i like hardboiled eggs but my blood lipids don't!
i may try the bagel pb thing, i never ate that - probably go with nutella.
I bought some hemp protein powder at a health food store and normally have that in a smoothie or on top of my cereal for breakfast...you could always try that...
in the military folks will look at me cross-eyed if i tell them i'm eating hemp at breakfast! :)
hmmm....might have to hide it in a whey container to avert suspicion...or just pull it out to explain any crazy behaviour..and then have fun at the court martial trying to explain that....!
i could just hide in a wmd container...it would never be found! :)
Just a Luna bar isnt a good meal option- try to stick to real foods. Might wanna pick up a sports nutrition book for some helpfull advice and meal ideas.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Optimum Power and Optimum Rebound by Nature's Path are good cereals. High protein (if I remember correctly like 8 or 9 grams in Power and like 10 or 11 grams in Rebound) Good carbs especially in Power (I think Power has 40 something and Rebound 30 something per serving... don't quote me on any of these though... :P) I think they have Optimum Power at Wal-Mart. You might have to go to a health food store to find Optimum Rebound.
i'll have to look for the optimum rebound/power for some more protein. the only diet issue i have at all is trying to get enough protein in the am because i eat so early workout and then im hungry as hades by lunch...
I usually do oatmeal with some raisens, or oatmeal with toast and jam of some sort. It will fill you up and is a great source of protien and carbs.
Here's a website for the above cereals (and the rest of the Optimum line) that I mentioned (then you can see what box to look for, and you can also see the nutrition facts and ingredients...) http://www.naturespath.com/products/optimum__1
Optimum Slim also has a decent amount of protein (9 grams). Though I like the flavor of Power and Rebound better. I don't recommend Optimum Zen. Unless they've changed something the dried cranberries in it are really hard chewy like.
I like a lot of the ideas shared above. I love to have oatmeal with chocolate chips mixed in. Soy Milk or soy protein powder is much better than whey, IMO. You might also want to look into Quinoa. It's a great whole grain, and it goes down a lot like oatmeal... It's also super yummy with chocolate and soy milk. :D I usually go for Peanut Butter and Jelly on whole wheat toast. The bread that I buy actually has whey protein in it (4g per slice). I've also heard that Almond Butter is a great thing to use instead of peanut butter, but I'm allergic to almonds, so I can't very well try that out, now can I?
I never stop eating. Vector cereal or Oatmeal for first breakfast. A scone and coffee at Starbucks post workout (caffeine helps recovery metabolism!). Granola bar at 10, my lunch sandwhich at 11:30, fruit (banana and apple) at 1, nuts/chocolate (mixed nuts with M&Ms and yogurt covered raisins!) at tea time. Dinner, then Whey protein drink for evening snack. Hmmm, I'm getting hungry...
My basic rule is carbs early in the day, with a good dose of proteins later.
I've tried Brandon Brazier's VEGA meal supplement. It's vegan, and has a bizare taste and texture. But it's full of natural ingredients, anti-oxidants, omega-3s, and even protein. I figure it can't be bad for me.

Almond butter is delicious! I like almond butter and jam better than peanut better and jam... I usually have peanut butter with something else (fresh banana, soy yogurt something like that.) Althogh it is quite a bit more expensive than peanut butter.
johnny, you sound like me. hard to believe i eat that much and weigh 150pds.

I eat a low fat high carb diet and well placed meal times with snacks in-between. However my "hardest" aerobic efforts or gym time are in the am, i usually do another session in the mid-afternoon. I get ravenously hungry by 1000am my snack-time; and i eat lunch at 1100 (first breakfast at 430 and a post workout snack about 7am). what is a good source of protein for breakfast other than shakes, eggs every day, a sports bar, etc. i just get bored with the 'same old.'
thoughts? that is the only weakpoint in my diet in my opinion and i'm needing some help....
