That is plenty of time, I did one two weeks out last year and had no problems.
That sounds like the timing is pretty good. I'm doing the same thing, just wussier. I have a sprint tri 3 weeks before my big olympic race.

I had a lot of sucess this past year with races on back to back weeks. I wouldnt recommend two HIMs back to back, but it's been done. An Oly or sprint the week before your race gets you primed and in race mode. I would almost say that 3 weeks is too much :D
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
If you aren't going 1500m swim, 40k on the bike and 10k on the run 3 weeks before a half iron, you aren't doing enough training to do the half ironman!
Two weeks of taper is enough so 3 weeks before should be a long something: run or ride, and 1500m swim is a warm-up.
When you finish the Oly race you can get back on the bike and finish the rest of the training you should have been doing that day!
Doing ONLY an Olympic distance triathlon 3 weeks before the HIM is called slacking off! heh.
Come on, JP, raise your sights.

Definitely enough time. It will be a good race prep for your 1/2 IM

Training for an HIM in august, I want to sign up for an olympic distance race, there is one three weeks before the Half, is this enough time between races? just want to get some opinions before I spend the $. Its a nice easy flat course, i did the sprint distance last year, thanks.
