I completed my first TRI season this year and now will be upgrading from a Road Bike to a tri bike. I am looking at the Cannondale right now. My question is: they sized me for a 54cm. I am just under 5'8'' - just wanted some feedback from anyone if that made sense. I trust the shop but I guess I want to see what others thought.

Without knowing your proportions leg/torso/arms it's impossible to comment when the size is this close to average. Unless you feel uncomfortable immediately you should trust your feelings about the bike shop people. If they seemed concerned rather than offhand. If they took time to see you on the bike in different positions, maybe measured your leg length and so on, then they probably won't steer you wrong.

You can of course do your own research on the web,

here's CyclingNews link for tech articles:

Chris Mathews has many insights on sizing bikes here:

and maybe even here at tri-fuel for articles on bike fitting. Self -education is best. It will happen anyway, take the time to learn before you make all the mistakes yourself and learn the hard way.

best of luck,

Sounds about right. Hard to say exactly without measurements but if they put you in that then it's probably right. Maybe drop by another bike shop and see what they measure you into.
