12/11 training

Biked 37 mi. Standard to Concord and back route, Easy pace average about 15 mph...
43 degrees w/ light drizzle and fog -- not nice, but better than its been this past week.
Flatted 10 mi into ride, changed it and kept going... of course I cut my finger on the shard of glass in my tire. always do that.
6 days til my 4 finals will be over and i get to go home...

First time I actually attempted to do a 'zone' ride. The goal was to ride 3 hours somewhere between zone 1 and 2. Made 50 miles in 3 hours and 11 min. Felt great. HR average was at 131, so not exactly zone 1 and 2 :)

Working my way up to a 6 hour ride eventually. Really trying to focus on building bike endurance. We'll see!

Happy training!

Good for you catwood!
It snowed here so I stayed indoors and did an hour on the trainer while watching my tape of IM Kona 2004. HR was 125 ave.

Tried to run but my rt. calf was too sore from basketball thursday night. I only managed 2km and went for a hot tub!

258 days to go to IM Canada 2005

12 mile run with the running club this morning. Tried to keep the HR in the low 150's.
But we are a pretty competitive group so average was 163.
A little chilly at the start at around 35 degrees, but little to no wind so felt really good.

Interesting as it is to read other people's training log/experiences it is hard to understand when you give no clue as to where you live. How about adding the city or state to your info?

I also did a 12 mile run with my running group yesterday morning. I didnt wear my HR monitor but I know by perceived exertion i was working hard. Next week is the HUFF 50k.

POC- You know I meant to put that in there... I'm in a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri.
I think winter has finally found us as it's currently 28 degrees. Tonights run is going to be a bit cool

Thank you for that. That is very interesting. I have a friend in Shell Knob, down in the Mark Twain Nat'l Forest near the Arkansas border. She isn't a triathlete but I hear about Missouri from her.
Lees Summit looks like a nice part of the country too. You have the reservoir and the Reed Wildlife reserve near you. How's the wind for cycling out there on the prairie?

PoC

Yes it can be rather windy here in the Midwest. Always toughest in the Spring.
The hills can be just as challenging as the wind though.
Most people would never guess that Missouri is fairly hilly. Kansas is the flat state.
The area your friend lives in along the Arkansas boarder is very hilly. But beautiful country.
So we get a little of both worlds on the Missouri side of the state line.
Hills and wind. Makes for good resistance training!
