So basically it looks like a camelback meets water bottle. Looks like it's missing a key feature...the ability to take water bottle hand-ups....

That system looks too difficult to refill during a long-distance tri. In an IM you'd be refilling those two bottles almost every hour or two. I think I'll stick with the bottles (that I can pitch) and my aerodrink on the bars that I can refill easily. Thanks for the link though.

i believe it is a closed system. no need to add water/fluid to bottlesduring race

if one needs to conserve vital fluids one can grap fluids in the water stations along the course

it says it holds about 60 oz. should be enought to last a whole ironman course. unless it is a very hot day.

I have to ask...Hideano...what's your tri experience level?

Hideano,

I don't mean to argue with you, but 60oz. is not enough fluid to get you through an Ironman. If you've done one with only 60 oz. of fluid on the bike, my guess is you bonked big time on the run. Most experts will tell you you need around 5 oz. of fluid(sports drink and water) every 10-15 minutes on the bike. If you take that times 5 to 6 hours of riding you'll see that you'll have to refill those bottles at least once during the ride. That system might be nice for training rides and shorter triathlons, but any Ironman racer will tell you the same thing.......to difficult to refill during the ride(without getting off of your bike). I'm not trying to burst your bubble because I've never tried that system before, but I do know how much fluid I and my training partners go through on long endurance events like Ironman and Adventure Racing. Good luck with your future races. :)

I have done over 10 IMs (2-3 a year for the last 4 years) and have done a few ITC world course championships (Team USA).

best time of 10:23 (IM FL..flat course) for IM distance so not the fastest but it puts me in the to 15-18% range or so.

i do at times time grap extra water at water stations but usually pass by avoiding the danger of wiping out like i have seen many do.

yes, the books/coaches and experience does say 5 oz. of fluid (sports drink / water) every 10-15 minutes of exercise.

i personally don't consume 20oz in one hours time, more like 12-15 unless it is a skorcher and i pour water over myself to cool down.

if your on the bike for more than 5-6 hours this may not be the best system stand alone sourceof hydration because 60 oz will definately not last the whole bike portion if your out ther for 7 or so hours.

wow that figure (5 oz every 15 minutes) is the EXACT rate i was drinking water in my last AR race. I went thru two fillings of my 100oz reservoir. that's cool to know!

20 ounces and hour is very very low. Most of my athletes are drinking upwards if 30+ ounces per hour. It would have to be a really cold day to be under 1 bottle per hour and then you would have to worry about getting enough calories outside of you drink.
