One piece wetsuit or two piece wetsuit?
I have never used a one-piece (other than a surfing wetsuit) so my point of view is probably skewed. I am currently using a De Soto First Wave and would not trade it for anything. I have no issues with my shoulders being tired, I don't know how much on an issue this is with a one-piece, and it very easy to get off once you learn the tricks of removing it. Also, De Soto has the best customer service out there in my opinion; I would put my vote in for the two-piece.
i have an orca long sleeve one piece...its cut seems to match my physique pretty well so i've had no issues with it, not even neck chafing (i don't really need body glide although i use it anyway for suit removal)
I had the Ironman Stealth for 4 years until last year I went to a 2 piece De Soto First wave. My Stealth is now for sale, enough said.
I am also a fan of the Desoto product...first wave bib johns and a black pearl vest.
I don't come from a swimming background, but I purchased this product based on advice from open water swimmers. Ease of getting out of the suit is not a priority for them, but it is a bonus for us tri weenies.
De Soto and I love it. I tried one pieces and none fit nearly as well. Easy off as well, plus you can switch between the full sleeve and the no-sleeve for about $120.
Haha... how did I know that Iron Dan would be first out with the DeSoto Endorsement? They need to sponsor you man, I SWEAR! You deserve it. I guess that speaks more than anything for their product and customer service.
But seriously, I think the most important thing is to find a good shop that will let you try on every wetsuit in the whole damn store until you find one that you like. I went to One Tri in Santa Ana (their ad pops up all the time here on Trifuel) and tried on a whole bunch. There were a lot more expensive ones I could have got, but I ended up with a 2XU Comp 1. It fit me great even though there weren't as many "sizing options"... I just happened to find something that worked with my body. As far as the two piece... I looked into that, and just decided against it because of the cost, but I would certainly consider it if I had the means, and the fit was nice.
Again, the most important thing is to try a lot of them and find the best one... I just think different manufacturers cut them all slightly differently, and they end up being suited for certain body types best.
Much like the Garmin 305, the trifuel community seems to be selling me toward another product!
Here is a cool De Soto video I just watched: http://desotosport.com/wetsuits/T1.mov It looks a little difficult to get out of, but if the rest of their claims are accurate it sounds like a great wetsuit. Judging by the personal testimonies on here, that is probably true.
What kind of stores to people go to to shop and try on wetsuits? I have never seen a tri specific store, and the only place I've ever seen with tri wetsuits is Cadence Cycling/Multisport in Philadelphia. Do any general sports stores have them?
Have you checked this place out Sully800?

I been meaning to make a trip there to check it out. There is a Philly location too.
I think the NJ is more Tri specific tho.

Going into my fith year living the mulitsport life my trusty Ironman Instinct wetsuit has seen some hard times/use. As I prepare for LP 2008 I would like to have gear in top working condition. I've been reading the pros of the two piece wetsuit regarding minimized shoulder fatigue, greater level of fit customization, and ease of removal not much different than a one piece. Has anyone in the Trifuel community have any recommendations, thoughts, and experience regarding this matter? Stay with what I'm used to or try something new (two piece)?
