Ordering and Trying Bike Saddles
I know most bike shops will let you try saddles. Are you looking for a road bike saddle or a tri specific saddle? I would also mention which gender saddle you're looking for and get some recommendations from that group.

This sounds like a case for the good ol' LBS, not that new-fangled intraweb.
My shop won't take returns on special orders, but because I've established a relationship with them, they are more than willing to order different things for me with the understanding that I'll buy one of them. If you find a good shop and schmooze them a bit, they'll probably be willing to help.
That said, I actually chose my latest saddle (Profile TriStryke) online without trying it. I maybe got lucky, but I knew what I was looking for (Cutout, no stitching, soft nose) and could tell largely from photos what would work and what wouldn't.

Now THAT is cool! No Tri specific saddles though.

The SLR T1 is a Time Trial saddle. So not "Triathlon" specific, but same idea. Nice long, wide nose so you can ride up forward without having to rest on the narrow tip of standard road saddles.
Performance Bike has always let me try out saddles and then return them to their retail locations, I would assume that this would be the same for their online store.
I checked with Performance bicycle and Bike Nashbar. They both let you order many and return the ones that didn't make the cut. Of course you will have to pay the shipping to get them back to them unless you can get them to a store.
Naturally I'm still not finding all the saddles I'd like to try at any one store but more choices than an LBS.
Now the trick is to make the right choice and have a more comfortable ride.
From the reviews I've read about my current saddle a Bontrager Race Lux. Anything will be an upgrade.
Few manufacturers will give you a good saddle. I saw a Fizik Arione Ti on a Lightspeed but that was a $5k+ bike.

I really need to try out some saddles. I've been told some of the online stores will let you order 2 or 3 and you can send back the ones that didn't work out.
Is this true? Which ones allow you to do this?
