Yeah, it did. I had a race that was only like 460 people (you're supposed to be top 8 in a race with 500 people). I figured that since I was 1st overall, they might count it....apparently they did! I've already started looking at the ITU schedule for 2008. LOL.

Nice work! 1st in a race with 460 should definitely be worth top 8 in a race with 500. I'm glad they accepted your reasoning.

Out of curiosity I checked if the qualifications stayed the same for next year...I'm sure you've already seen them, but things look pretty different!

CRITERIA A:
Finish within 8% of the winning elite time (onsame course as elites) in three USAT sanctioned events that offer an elite/ pro prize purse.

CRITERIA B:
Finish top- 10 overall and within 8% of the winner's time at ITU Age Group World Championships.

CRITERIA C:
Finish top- 10 overall in the amateur field at Ironman World Championship.

CRITERIA D:
Finish top-5 overall and within 8% of the winner's time at the USAT Age Group National Championships.

CRITERIA E:
Finish top-5 overall and within 8% of the winner's time at USAT Collegiate Natinal Championships.

CRITERIA F:
Finish top-3 overall in the amateur field at an Elite Qualifying Race. The list of Elite Qualifying Races is determined by the AAC each year and published on USAT's website. Please find the list below.

^lol....yeah....a lot harder. That's why I wanted to get it done so badly this year!

For example, to meet Criteria F, you have to go somewhere around 1:54 at St. Anthony's. It's about the same for D and E also. I'm not going that fast anytime soon!

Did you know that pros have to pay $320 to race?! Of course I'm going, though! I might bring my girlfriend along....all 4 of us will have dandy ol' vacation! The tri boys and cheerleading squad!

Sounds like good times, Matt! We'll be there the 7th- 9th before heading over to Yosemite for a few days.

We're stayingh at the Buena Vista Motor Inn. We had made a reservation for the Comfort Inn, but they screwed up and wanted to charge us $40 a night more than we made the initial reservation for.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I'll probably get there on the 6th so I have time to rest...maybe the fifth if I don't have too much work to do. I haven't done any planning since I can't sign up for a few more days until I have my elite member number. I'm excited, though! My girlfriend found out at dinner tonight that there are sharks in the bay....that was fun. Rob, you have plans yet?

As long as your not wearing fins (though would explain some of your swim splits I think) and bleeding you should be ok.
