Marathon May 17th
i suspect you'll really need to get some significant running time in to improve your run. it seems like wishful thinking to achieve the results with a cycling focus in your training. ...maybe one of the trainer types has a more specific answer..
when do you start your training plan start for CdA?
pete - no, not enough time. you'd want at least 3 months just to build your base and then another month or two to work on speed. if you jump right into the speed you will be in serious risk of injury. so the base is key. if i were you i'd shoot to simply finish. your expectations are a little out of whack.

$100 if you do the IMCdA dressed as Master Chief. (Pics or it didn't happen)

and can play Halo while I ride (Awesome!)
wow i've never even thought of that i'm gonna have to try that sometime....;D

I'm doing IM CdA June 21st (I think it is), and I'm preparing to run a Marathon May 17th, as my last long training run before I start to taper.
Its -5 degrees outside right now (F), and I'm not really into running in the cold, and I'm wondering if 3 months is enough time running to get from about 10 miles @ 10 minute miles, to the 26 @ 8-9 minute miles. Of course I'd prefer closer to 8, but would be okay with 9.
What do you all think? Running is definately my limiter (my HIM run split was like 13:30 per mile or something sad like that), but I would like to focus on cycling through the winter, since I have a trainer, and can play Halo while I ride (Awesome!), but running is trickier. I don't have a treadmill, and don't have a gym that I can work out at conveniently enough for me right now.
Is 3 months enough time to build those miles and that speed, assuming I have a good base from the cycling training?
