Hi Guys

If i swim regularly at my local pool (for a period of consecutive days), i find that after a long session (where im working quite hard) i seem to have a reaction to the chlorine in the water, i get very itchy armpits and sometimes a rash forms..

I guess this is a reaction to the chlorine in the water is there anything i can do to prevent it or ease the itching post swim?

Thanks

Ian Keane

I have a similar situation with the swimming pool water. Small white spots appear in my back and chest when I go a lot to community pool. Could it be that the water is not clean ?

i have no idea if im allergic to chlorine or not but my skin used to get red and extremely itchy when i swam a lot. I found that by showering right away after i swam that i no longer got the rash.

Chlorine allergies is a real thing. Definately shower immidately after swimming...also try lotion, vaseline, or anything forms a barrier between the water and your skin on rash prone areas before entering the water. No the pool may not be thrilled with you for doing this...but it can't be any more disgusting than the kids (and adults) that pee in the pool!

The white spots you get is a type of yeast infection, no joke... Many swimmers sooner or later get those white spots. They started small on my back and after a few years it covered my entire upper back. I forgot the technical name for it but you should have it checked out. Its fairly easy to remove, its a cream with a shampoo, after the infection is cleared up it took me about a year for my skin to match the rest of my body- basically it needs to re-tan.

As far as pools being clean or dirty, it just depends where you swim, I would NEVER swim in a back yard pool, at the gym or appartment pools, the water is rarely balanced. I rather swim in large municipal pools, they have different standards on how the pools needs to stay balanced.
