I received

Garmin Forerunner 305
Pearl Izumi TriFly Shoes
Blackburn Quadrant and Mars 3.0 Combo Bicycle Light Set
Garmin Forerunner 305/205 Quick Release Bike Mount Kit
Garmin GSC 10 Speed Cadence Sensor for Edge and Forerunner Series
Specialized Tarmac Road Bike
Look KeO Carbon Ironman Pedals
Louis Garneau Tri Pack Transition Bag

Well that is about it. Yeah, I am a newbie!

Hey for those with the Garmin 305, do you use Motion Based or Training Peaks? I have looked at both but am trying to decide which to go with. Thanks.

I'm jealous of the Garmin 305! I'm debating on whether I should invest in one or not, but I really want it!

Santa was good to me:

A Giro advantage 2 helmet :)
A bunch of cold weather gear
Garmin 305 with cadence, quick release and foot pod - I have had the 301 for a couple seasons - nice upgrade.

Very little tri related stuff, because no one in my family is a triathlete and they don't want to buy me the wrong things.

-Blinking light for my bike in case dusk comes before I get home.
-A few gels which I have never used before but need to experiment with this year for my first HIM
-Brush to scrub my chain clean
-Bottle of degreaser

But I'm fine with that. I also got some money so I'll just use that on the things I really want (aero helmet, wetsuit, entry fees and maybe a used aero wheelset).

I had a good christmas:
CH Aero Disc Cover
Speed and Cadence sensor for my Garmin
"Going Long" "Lance's Armstrong's War" "Zinn and the Art of Triathlon Bikes" and "Triathletes Guide to Bike Training"
The Evolution Running DVD
Some bike Gloves and socks
Waterproof housing for my digi cam
assorted other cool stuff.
I GOTTA call out my sister for the best of all gifts- sythetic down pillows. I am looking forward to bed time- these things ROCK!!!

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

No tri stuff, but here's a sample of the acquired schwag:

Computerized wine chiller
Gator freezable mugs
Gator wine glasses
Pinot noir (so I could try out the chiller right away)

My family supports my non-triathlon hobby....drinking! :)

My mom said she almost bought a vacuum wine bottle resealer, but then she thought I'd never use it because I don't open a bottle of wine without finishing it!

I too upgraded to the 305 after several years of using the 201. I don't use either Motion Based or Training Peaks - I use Sport Tracks. It's available from http://zonefivesoftware.com. They are all incredible tools.

After looking through the forum on that site, I am afraid of using it. It seems I would need to be some sort of Computer Scientist to keep the product up and running. In your experience, is this the case? Because otherwise the product looks really cool.

Santa was cool to me for training:

Kinetic by Kurt Road Machine with Power meter attachment
Flashing light that clips on and off the bike for dusk riding, night running
2 Spinervals DVD's
Strap for holding Ipod shuffle

Very happy with Santa this year on this.

For me:

Bike socks
Spinvervals Lake Placid 56 mile VR DVD.
New brake levers for the tri bike--Profile Carbon QS 2.

On the non-tri side, I used Xmas money towards my first new set of XC skis, boots and poles since roughly 1987. (I'm planning to do half my skiing "out the door" on our local unofficial trails/golf course and half on groomed trails, so I went with waxless classic.)

For her:

Giro Advantage 2 helmet
bike jersey
compact crankset
various winter running clothes

Holy crap, McTri, you made out -- bike, shoes, pedals, Garmin 305. But then again, so did everybody else! Way to be good Tri boys and girls in 2007. And not a lump of coal for any us! Way to go! My favorite non-tri gifts mentioned in the replies: the wine chiller and wine, the capppuchino machine. But I love how as tri-geeks we get excited over things like degreaser. My how things have changed!

  • a trip to Canada (and it was awesome)
  • running shorts and a running top
  • Christmas running/cycling socks
  • warm hat and mittens

Funny thing, I sent out a list of the things I wanted specifically for my bike and didn't get any of them. I did get approval to just by the two things that I wanted because Santa indicated that she was afraid she might get the wrong things.

- Thompson Elite setback seatpost
- Clip-on aero bars

Yes, it was the C8 and I have liked it so far. No issues to speak of. I have no idea how to really use the watch yet because I refuse to read the directions, but so far I have liked it.

This will sound very boring to some of you, but this year I didn't get anything, yet Santa brought me the best gifts possible. WARNING: extreme cheesyness coming!

-A Mom and a Grandma crying because they haven't seen each other in 3 years and I brought my grandma as a surprise for Christmas

-Tons of quality family time

-Getting to know and appreciate my future brother-in-law, and see how good he is to my sister

-A childish moment when we went playing outside and sliding on our butts in the snow

-Enjoying being with my best friend from childhood, who got into an accident in 2007, was in coma, and almost died (at some point the doctors were saying she had a 2% chance to come back...), but against all odds recovered and is the same good person she's always been.

So no I didn't get any new gear, but I'm not complaining. Life's good, and I got gear throughout the year anyways. So I think I'm good to go. Also, in my current state, I don't think it's the gear that needs improvement, if you see what I mean ;)
