Dara Torres: The Best Sports Story You Never Heard
She's fast. In Mar/Apr I was down in FL doing a swim training camp and she was there at her hometown pool. Funny thing is, she probably spent more time in the weight room then in the pool. I read an article not to long ago that stated the same thing and they attribute that to helping her stay fast in the water. Good for her at 40.

The time in the weight room makes perfect sense as she is now a pure sprinter ~ 24 secs / 50m scary fast.
Gary Hall jr. and his ilk Popov and Biondi, are all power too.
You can't keep your Aerobic fitness in the pool as long as you can your strength, I guess

I've been gone skiing and missed this thread! I attribute her success to being a gator. :) Why do you think Ryan Lochte is so fast?

Matt, I just knew you would catch this.
Now she has a Silver Medal to prove her talent, as if anyone doubted her class.
One one hundredth of a second faster and she has a gold medal! Outrageous.
Just shows,, don't glide to the wall. The hand moves faster than a body can glide.

One one hundredth of a second... I was really hoping for the gold, but the silver is great!
It's great to be a Florida Gator!
Ryan Lochte has a cool tat, too!
Got one Matt?
Don't be so easy on yourself 'cause this one might be all that you have left
Hello everyone: I'm also blown away by this awesome woman. To be this amazing in this sport, at this level, at her age is just inspirational. This just shows that "Age is a matter of the mind........if you don't mind, it doesn't matter".
I can't wait till I am able to go back to the pool. My orthopedic doctor told me that in about 2 weeks I can swim again so, I am literally counting the hours.!!!!!!!!!!!! My foot is healing ok but I am still wearing this ugly boot. I know I need to be patient but it is so hard not to be able to do the every day stuff at home, let alone not being able to swim, bike or run.
I have been able to see all the swimming events late at night so I saw the US swimming team historical preformances and also, Dara's swim for her silver medal in the 50 free.
I wonder also why they haven't shown the Sincronized Swimming?????? what's up with that?? I think this branch of the sport is also fantastic to watch. And what about the Triathlon??? Are they going to show this also????
Happy tapering for all of you going to Wisconsin to race on my birthday!!!!!!! Good luck, have a fabulous day!!!!!!!!!

"Four days ago, at age 40, and just 15 months after giving birth to her first child, she won gold in the 100m freestyle at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, her 14th national title."
- Here she is.
She is a Grad of U of Fla.
